It’s all about the relative gains. If you take Gibbs as a flat value, it’s a net loss, but it’s about more than that. Losing a RB does not hurt us the same way gaining a floor-raising QB, capable receiving TE, and two seeming scheme-fit former 4* OL.

For what it’s worth, this year all the first batch of CGC recruit OLs are 3rd years. One has already been a major contributor, others have played a bit due to injury or have been rotational. Those guys will hopefully still get to be rotational with these former 4* players (same age in terms of eligibility with these 3rd years) taking the nod right in front of them. This off-season has been all about raising our floor and we have more injury-proofing for our line now.

Better line play will make Dontae look like Gibbs

Reading the last few posts above, I'm concerned.

It's starting to sound like we might be a better team with better coaching next year.

Are you sure you guys are feeling okay? :)

Maybe everybody's new years resolution was to not be toxic, repetitive, whiny-babies?

Naaaahhhh ...... ;)

(Haha, come at me bros. You know it's true.)

I think the potential is there. My gut says CGC will find a way to screw it up. BUT if CGC can really flip the defense around and how bad the ACC is, we should win 7-9 games next year. But CGC could find a way to lose between 1-3 from poor game day managing. I hope the AD has also addressed this part behind the scenes as well. Reviewed the losses and found a way to coach CGC.

Hope springs eternal and I am a glass half full right now. We go bowling and win 8 games next year. I have had a number of bad employees work for me over the years and was shocked at the turn around a little coaching and training accomplishes for a lot of them. But it all starts with the employee recongnizing it and willing to accept the training. Is CGC at that point? If not then we see similiar results and win 4-5.

UGA, clemson and ole miss are the only games that we really dont have a great chance in based on what we know about the teams today. the rest of the season we should be in a good position to perform considering the amount of talent leaving the ACC this year. failure to go to a bowl game next year would be shameful

The problem is Clemson and Ole Miss are 2 of the first 4 games (1st and 4th game). And UCF in Orlando (3rd game) will not be a picnic either. If we start 1-3, I am really concerned we can recover and post a winning record. I think it is vital we beat UCF and/or Ole Miss. I think getting out of the gate at least 2-2 is important to achieve at least 6 wins (minimum Collins needs to survive in my estimation).

I think we can beat Ole Miss without their quarterback whose name escapes me in a senior moment IF we improve and play to our potential. If we do go 1-3 to start the year, it will be a bad omen going into the conference games we can win. The psyche of this team is likely to be pretty fragile. Coach Collins has his work cut out for him. The smoke and mirrors and the hype will not get it done. He and his assistants have to coach like gangbusters. IIWII

We can beat every team on our schedule. Some are more likely than others, but any given Saturday... Ole Miss, that SEC football team we refused to play when we were in the SEC because they were so bad and Bobby Dodd was a bad-***. Piss on 'em.

We’re in a weird spot. We have a coach on the ropes who needs a winning season. We have an out of conference schedule that includes two top 10 teams and a third that will certainly be bowling. About the most mundane record (and bowl) we can muster is with a 2-2 out of conf and 4-4 ACC record. If we go 1-3 out of conference (which would not be unheard of), we would need to be in contention for the conference championship (5-3 at worst) to go bowling. The coastal is full of new coaches and mediocre teams so ANYTHING is possible but I feel like our ceiling and our minimum are pretty much the same (5-6 wins). Will that be enough to save Collins? Can we do appreciably better?

As penance for omitting Quez Jackson's declaration for the draft in my review, please accept the addition of Ahmari Harvey from Auburn to the list of possible incoming transfers...

The flip side of that is equally true for this team...namely, the only sure wins are Duke and Western Carolina. A lot of the others are in flux, as usual for the Coastal, and are certainly games we can win but I cannot see us running the table on Virginia, Virginia Tech, Miami, FSU, and Pitt. Winning four of them would be pretty impressive under the circumstances.

Getting fsu added is usually a likely loss. But they like us are in chaos. Miami has thrown money at their coaching change. We are pecking around with existing staff and adding within our budget. Vt, miami, and fsu are likely to be way better by following year.
