Honestly I'm pretty sure they just hand tickets out row by row seat by seat. Buy simultaneously with a 2nd person and you'll probably get seated next to each other. No promises on this though. But also away sections towards the top usually have plenty of seating and everybody is so happy and jovial to either be on vacation or surrounded by fellow Tech alumni in their city for once (and inebriated) that they'll probably accommodate your large group with smiles, handshakes, and "Go Jackets! Name is X, <<Class of Y>>, how are you?"
We’re in the next level up on the 40. If you hear 4 crazy old guys sitting next 2 women rolling their eyes, that’s us. 2 of our party stayed/got single, the other 2 of us are married and the wives tend to frown upon us loudly swearing at the games and that hasn’t changed over the last 40 years. Some things never change.
