The search has been on-going behind the scenes since January. Discussions with some candidates have already happened over last few days. MBOB has a list and it will be his decision. Some of the names that have been thrown out are legit and others not even close. We are aiming big and talks were so positive that it was clear we had to make the move now. Despite all the talk, Money is not an issue. Tech campaign and now the NCAA $ will help big time. We can go over $3Mill if needed. No excuse for this program to not thrive again. Expect decision to be announced before final 4 so new coach can start staff search at coaching convention.

Sidenote: saw where the ACC teams will earn more $ now from NCAA tourney than entire Pac 12 network tv deal. Pretty impressive. Can't say enough about lets trust MBOB and support our new coach.

After last night ACC is guaranteed around $40MM over six years from this year's tourney. A new record, beating last years $33MM haul. Their # Tourney units earned will be the largest by any conference in history.
4 teams in the Elite Eight ties a record.
Guaranteed 2 Final Four Spots and 1 National Championship game spot.

ACC is 33-8 the last 2 NCAA Tourneys. This year, three of its teams are going to lose to other ACC teams. Only 3 or 4 of the losses in this tourney will come from teams outside the ACC.

Haha agree. He said he heard it from a source and thought it was odd. Source could probably be defined a 100 ways from radio jocks, though.

Feel that it is vital that "big name" ideology is our starting point. Vital as far as I am concerned or no need to have fired Brian. Someone hopefully realized what the recapture of lost revenues can mean to the program.

And very hopeful that, at this stage, we are in the ending stage of the process by having 1 or 2 that we can get on the dotted line rather than just starting to consider who we want to talk to.

There is no point in writing a piece like that and not making it sound as if you really know what's going on. I bet we see a slew of these before the hire is eventually made public. Maybe one will be correct, but maybe not.

Okay, serious question (well, sort of). We are still paying both Gregory and Hewitt for two more years each I think. If we are already paying them, let's just go ahead and hire them both on as assistant coaches. Hewitt would make a nice lead recruiter and Gregory a wonderful assistant. Would make for a great staff and save us a bunch of money.

If we can truly spend $3 million plus then Gregg Marshall needs to be seriously pursued until he says no.

As I thought for awhile, (subject/thread for later) they must be cooking the books in the Accounting office. We go from scraping the bottom of the barrel to possibly spending $3MM on a coach? I guess...
