so here is the latest info I can gather.........Unless MBOB has a ace in his back pocket that no one knows about we are down to 2. Capel and Drew. It's a tough decision because one is probably a better x's and o's and the other a great recruiter. We are talking to both. One wrench in this deal is that Valpo is still playing, which is why it would be best for them to lose tonight. The other wrench in this deal is Vandy, apparently they want to make a run at Greg Marshall but like everyone else he will say no. Vandy has also reached out to Drew and he will listen. We'd like to have a coach in place tomorrow or Thursday but Valpo may play Thurs night. At the latest we want a coach by Friday so they can start staff search at convention this weekend. Most of the normal insiders are saying Drew is the guy but I have one source I trust a lot and he says Capel may be MBOB's favorite.

I want Bryce Drew over Jeff Capel. If we win players will come. We had top 15 recruiting classes with Hewitt who was an excellent recruiter. I want someone who can coach

I'm just going to ride this out, but I am a little afraid to look at my phone in fear there's an alert that we've hired Billy Knight or someone else completely awful. (I know Billy Knight isn't a coach. He's just the archetype of a guy with no clue of how to build a team).
Every time I hear an ESPN noise on my phone, I hesitate just a little bit.

I'd be fine with either, but I'd prefer Capel. The question marks about whether Drew could recruit here are larger than the ones about Capel's coaching imo. And Capel has proven he can recruit at the highest level. Drew, while a good coach, is coaching against programs in a one bid conference. He's dominated, but it's different than going up against the guys that ACC programs have.

Watching the game. It's early, but so far it's been very unimpressive. Tons of turnovers. Valpo looks like it would be a lower tier team in the ACC. Of course, it's only been 10 minutes into the game.

I'm kind of leaning towards Capel myself. He's coached and recruited at a major level. Drew seems to be successful with upper classmen and senior laden teams. I just wonder how he will do with one and done or two and done type players that you need to have to compete in the acc. With the right staff, mainly for recruiting he could do big things. I just think Capel is the quicker answer for rebuilding of the two.

Did anyone else get this? To be honest, I like this more now. A guy who wants to leave his comfy seat at Duke for a school in the same Conference, must mean he really feels something about his ability to turn it around quickly.

His ability to recruit in the hotbed of Atlanta seems too easy.

Didn't get it but I like it. Let's wrap this whole thing up.

You don't need one and dones to be successful in the ACC the most successful teams this year were all junior/senior laden teams. Check out UNC's roster or Duke, Syracuse and UVA. You don't have to be Kentucky to win

Syracuse got to the final 4 because of two really talented freshman. Duke was decent because of a great Freshman. I think you need to have a mix of an elite one and done player or two with some solid 3-4 star players that stay for 3 or 4 years.

Regardless of who we get the rebuilding job is going to start with recruiting. Either recruiting an overall talent level needed to compete, or recruiting the right pieces needed to run the offense you want.

Well, Valpo just blew a 16 point lead*. Wonder if they will hang on.

*Game is still going on and I know it's just one game. Just a bad omen imo.
