The problem at Georgia Tech is not the GAP with UGA.... It is the GAP with Clemson and Duke.... It would appear that both Dabo Sweeney and David Cutcliffe have out coached CPJ.

Since the 2008 seasons Georgia Tech fans have seen the gap with Clemson get larger (like UGA larger) and Duke close the gap with Georgia Tech. While CPJ has had some success on the Flats he has been out recruited and coached by both Dabo and David and it is not good for Georgia Tech Football as Clemson beats u like UGA does and Duke beats us on the regular. It is sad when you consider we use to beat both schools pretty easy

Dabo doesn't outcoach anyone, he out talents them and lets his cooardinators coach. Cutcliffe got everything he wanted from duke from support staff to stadium renovation.

Interesting points you make... Both coaches suck, and their success is in large part to other factors.... Sounds like a typically Tech Fan... CPJ is great, but he sucks because of other factors...

Despite what you say, Dabo's body of work at Clemson proves he can coach as far as Duke goes, until we can beat them three season in row like we use to David is better than CPJ.

Ask any Clemson fan and they will say the opposite. Dabo is a great recruiter who hired great assistants and lets them do their jobs. All of these things are helped by having gobs of money. Now are all of these things part of being a great coach? Absolutely. But in terms of actual football coaching, not so much.

Yes, good coaching matter. CPJ is 7-3 against Duke. As comparison Bobby Ross was 2-3 against Duke. Ross sucked.

You are correct.... about the records... The article is discussing "the GAP" since 2014 DUKE is 3-1 against Georgia Tech.... they have beaten us in 2014, 15 and 17... We beat them in 2016.... So in the last four years we are 1-3 against DUKE.... that is a concerning "GAP"

As far as Bobby Ross goes you are correct when he took the job Georgia Tech was in rough shape... His record is 2-3 vs Duke.... However what you see in Bobby Ross is that he took a poor GT squad, lost 3 times vs Duke and then in 1990 he started to reverse the trend and started a new "Gap" He beat Duke twice and when he left Tech and Bill Lewis took over even Bill kept the GAP going vs DUKE in 92 and 93...Until Bill Lewis couldn't ride Bobby Ross's Kids anymore.. .. so from 1990-1993 GT was 4-0 vs DUKE.... That "Gap" was due to Coach Ross...

Our Current "1-3 Gap" with Duke is due to CPJ and no one else...

Why stop there, since 2017 we've never ever ever beat Duke a single time.

You missed my point. In his first 3 years Ross was outcoached....by a guy named Steve Spurrier. Spurrier left after the 89 season. And Ross inherited a team that went 9-2-1 and 5-5-1 85 and 86.

Yes you are correct... Ross was out coached at the beginning of his tenure... How did he leave Georgia Tech Football and the "GAP" with Duke??? He left it better.... How has the Gap with Duke gone under CPJ??? It has gotten worse!!

We've had a few studs in the program, just not enough at the same time. We have a unique mold for the perfect SA when you have to account for both the S and A. Most programs have no accounting for the S part, any old idiot will do. Where we need to concentrate our efforts is in finding kids who fit the mold. That is exactly what we are trying to do with the 4 new hires. Find more prospects that fit the GT SA mold and we'll have better luck signing them and better luck with pan out rate. At least that's the theory.

So Clemson has gobs of money.... it has only been since Dani that the Georgia Tech Clemson gap has widen... they had gobs of money in 1988,1998,2004... on and on...

I am sorry that I did not pref...Dabo Head Coach who has to recruit and hire asst coaches.... again his body of work is better than CPJ... we can see GT DC revolving door for that point...and to see what Dani has done with the Gobs of money that no previous Clemson coach has done is simply amazing!

So if GT wins this year, that will mean we have won two out of the past three (67%), so will you be willing to say that he has reversed the trend back to our favor, or will you just continue picking the specific years you want to use to make your point?

Duke has also only played a P5 team once before playing us since 2012.

BYE
Memphis (when they were awful)
BYE
Northwestern
BYE
Army

For comparison we have had in that time frame:

UNC
BYE
Miami
Notre Dame
BYE
Virginia Tech

We are 3-3 while getting a terrible draw against them schedule wise.

That wasn't my point at all. Dabo is a different type of coach he doesn't out coach people on the field. Cutcliffe is a great coach, we beat him 9 years in a row until he got all the peices in places to start building a program he could win with at duke.

GTFletch, seems you are quite the CPJ hater. Life might be much sunnier for you if you just started rooting for Clemson that you admire so much instead of GT. At least you wouldn’t wear yourself out beating dead horses daily.
