Well to be fair, I think if we only invaded Afghanistan that sentiment wouldn’t have come up so strongly. That sentiment came up because we were sacrificing lives in countries that had nothing to do with 9/11. Almost 20 years later, we still have soldiers over there o_O

I don’t see us having fans, but I can see some form of college football happening. My biggest fear is a huge spike caused by the protests. There is no social distancing going on there. If a big spike happens soon, this year may be a “year zero” for everyone.

I'm not certain that those posts were actually unrelated to this thread. The answer to the questions of whether there will be a 2020 football season and whether or not it will start on time hinges on striking a balance between personal choices and risks.

From what I have read, those waivers are iffy at best legally. Even someone signs and decides to sue later, if they can prove negligence on the part of the people holding the event, then the waiver they signed means little. If GT went this route they would still have to provide an environment that is attempting to uphold public safety. I do appreciate the irony though of telling people everything is fine but please sign this paper we printed out ensuring you can't sue us in case we are wrong.

FWIW, i think college football is one of the more likely sports to play this year right now, but until there is kickoff we won't really know.
It is also even more likely one of the few that might have some fans in the stands though I doubt it will be a full house - even with waivers.

Alot going on in the sports world the last couple of days- suggesting the road to sports will be anything but smooth. The combination of the pandemic and the social unrest has potentially changed issues with sports leagues (professional and college)

IT really just hit me if there is no season then everyone gets an extra year. I want there to be football, but it would not be a negative for building our team if there isn't just saying. Plus our guys can improve even more with that much extra practice time.

Back to the original questions (paraphrased): Do we think GT will play football this year? If so, when?

I really want football to come back for my return to a modicum of sanity. But it should be more about the players than me or the money desperately needed by the colleges.

My wife saw a good post yesterday: "At this point of COVID, I'm 95% feral and will never be able to be integrated back into society." Just gotta take it day by day. We'll get there. Wherever there is.

That SMU one is as plain as day. You are signing away any right for not only you but also your heirs and successors to sue SMU if anything happens to you due to COVID19, from injury to sickness to death.

Now keep in mind, courts have generally held that you can't just waive all rights, if the plaintiff is found negligent due to not taking expected precautions then they can't just protect themselves from lawsuits. You do have to prove they were negligent though.
