The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

Then why didn’t they do that? They went and hid hoping everyone else would fold. They ended up looking like the stooges they are.

People just straight up use false data too. On the world news tonight, they showed a map of dozens of states who are seeing increasing Covid cases. South Carolina was one they listed. I just went and made a screen capture of our trend and here it is. It’s total fear porn and made up BS and organizations are using false information to make decisions.

You mean like budget cut statistics? If you wanted a 10% increase and only got 5% you lost 50%

Syracuse seems to not be much different. Dudes have tested negative multiple times per week for months now. But then at game time they need to re-re-re verify a negative.

Seems unlikely that a group of University presidents agreed to throw away hundreds of millions of dollars for something that might have a very tiny political impact.

Yea I think they had good intentions, but went off of bad advice and bad information. But since they won't disclose why they chose to cancel football, then completely reversed their decision shortly later also without disclosing why, it will lead to a lot of this type of speculation. Its not like they just canceled a game - they were supposedly so worried about the health and lives of their student athletes so as to cancel the entire season...but then suddenly weren't. 🤷‍♂️

I think they were pretty clear about why they canceled. I think they were less clear about why they changed the decision, so it makes the whole episode very questionable.

There isn't anything in that article, or that the BigTen has ever stated which explains why they canceled. The best you can get out of them is "it became abundantly clear that there was too much uncertainty regarding potential medical risks to allow our student-athletes to compete this fall."

What medical risks are abundantly clear? They didn't say. And its apparently not 'abundantly clear', because many other conferences disagreed, and shortly thereafter, the BigTen reversed their decision. How can something be abundantly clear, but then abundantly clear in the other direction a few weeks later?

What a surprise that the Jax mutt- gator game will likely be packed out. They could sell all those tickets at $250-500 a pop in less time than Garth brooks.

When I think about the season thus far it is about how well the teams have done with the greatly modified game and practice environments they have endured (if that is the correct word). Before the season started we knew there would be some disruptions and all the conferences said they would cancel games if necessary. I was not optimistic in July that we would have a football season. It simply seemed crazy to think it would work, but even with the cancelations, I admit I was overly pessimisstic.

We have a season. Everyone knew it would be impacted in some way. There are too many people involved for it not to be. He almost sounds sad there have been no major medical issues to date.
Kind of how this was destined to go. You have too many people who only want to look at it in black and white extremes. Someone dies and it’s a total disaster. No one dies and we overreacted with the protocols. No room for middle ground
