It looked like every bit of 90% in 2021. It was embarrassing.
That is one time not the last few times. That game was very bad on TV, but the West stands did not look like the East stands did. The TV shots show the East stands. The Southeast is the designated visitors section. It was a significant majority of mutt fans, but still not 90%.

Last year it was probably close to 50/50. Don't know exact percentages. Far too many mutt fans, but not anywhere close to 90%.

Not a fan of this every year but I'm all for it for a one time payday. If we permanently move the series here for all of our home games, I'll start raising hell then.

Thinking a bit more on this, if we use all $10 million towards football, it’s definitely worth it. The fact that all $10 million is eligible for NIL is appealing.

I didn’t realize the game isn’t in our season ticket package. I don’t care how much money it brings in. He just sold the game to our biggest rival…

For everyone who hates this idea, how many of you have actually been in BDS the past few times we have played UGA to support the team? It has been about 90 % UGA fans and a total embarrassment, and that includes all sections of the stadium. If Tech fans were not selling their tickets to the Dawg fans and were actually attending the game, this decision may not have been made.

I’ve been at the last few… 2021 was an abomination. I was fortunate enough to be in a real suite and insulated from the mouth breathers.

2023 was a mixed crowd. We can debate the percentages but the Tech crowd was loud. I had the privilege to be on the field before the game and the Tech energy was palpable. Optically on TV, it may not have looked great for the usual reasons… cesspoolers are red and GT fans are kaleidoscope of colors, especially when it’s cold out.

The $22-23M NIL cap begins NEXT YEAR (2025-26). We don’t have that money to compete
Good thing we just decided to spend $500M on stadium renovations then 🙄

I mean seriously guys. On the one hand people sit here and say we don’t have money and can’t compete, and then we sit back and watch them raise tens (and now hundreds) of millions of dollar that ultimately go alongside jumbo loans that just put us in more debt.

Meanwhile we sell our home game against our biggest rival to a neutral site that they love playing in and don’t even give the season ticket holders a ticket to the game - which likely means less Tech fans in attendance even though it’s a mile from campus.

Maybe he’s already done this may, but we will sell fewer season tickets because of this decision, so I’m not sure we will end up with a net $10M.

I’m all for getting creative, but this isn’t exactly creative…it’s just stupid.

Well since next year isn’t a home game it’ll be 90/10 uGA - in a place that will be significantly louder than Sanford Stadium.

Just a joke.

So bottom line - our AD just gave our biggest rival a bigger crowd advantage next year for $10M. Find $10M another way.
Look at it another way. The AD gave GT fans an opportunity to purchase season tickets, and to purchase the majority of MBS to prove to the college football world that GT fans care about our team more than mutt fans. We have that opportunity. If us GT fans don't take advantage of that opportunity, that is on us not the AD. If YOU personally do not buy season tickets and then purchase MBS tickets and extra MBS tickets, then YOU are the problem, not the AD.

No, he did the opposite. He secured funds for us to actually be competitive in that game, and in addition, he’s solving a huge problem we’ve had over the past few years where UGA fans buy GT season tickets in order to have a seat for clean old-fashioned hate leaving thousands of empty seats for our other home games. That won’t happen in 2025. It will give our stadium a chance to look a lot more full for all the other home games creating more of a home-field advantage in those games.

That takes time. There’s supposedly $300M already pledged, but we don’t know how that money is earmarked. Maybe $10M is earmarked for NIL? That would mean the COFH game would bring that to $20M. We don’t know, but do you just think JBatt is lying.

How dare you think that Georgia Tech fans will support Georgia Tech. That's not what we did in my day and not what we're going to do now.

Oh bull****. 10M for sacrificing a home game against our biggest rival is just stupid as hell. If they want to move the entire series there every year then fine. Money is ok. But taking that money so they can bring even more fans and then going to Athens the next year is just stupid.

This money argument is so weak. People find correlation between successful programs and money and then claim that the money created the wins. In reality the wins created the money. when I have more time to get data to support this argument I’ll be happy to do it.
If we don’t have the money when this capped NIL starts next year it will jolt Tech backward at a horrible time in our resurgence. This is a way to ensure that we will come close to where we need to be in 2025. It’s not perfect, or even desirable, but it works.

AND… it cancels the 2026 obligation to play at MBS. That’s a great opportunity there, but the opportunity cost is high, no doubt.

I think some of our STH posters pissed Batt off when they sent him nasty emails complaining about their seats for ND game. And he decided "I will show those cheap skates a thing or two. They want big time football in a renovated stadium, I will teach them what it costs it takes to have such nice things! I will take away their rivalry game away from their season tickets for one year, play it in MBS, and forcing them to pay market price to watch high level football in premium seats in a nice stadium. And it will be a good lesson to prepare them for what is coming to them in 2027, double whammy!" :ROFLMAO:

I didn't read that in any of the official statements about this game. The page on ramblinwreck.com says "Yellow Jackets play one home game annually at Mercedes-Benz Stadium through 2026."
I’ll read it again. Maybe I misread.

ETA: I guess I misread the sentence below. It is somewhat ambiguous.

“In partnering with AMB Sports and Entertainment (AMBSE) to move Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for 2025, we agreed to changes in the contract that calls for us to play one game annually at Mercedes-Benz Stadium through 2026.”

I agree it’s ambiguous. I re-read it this morning and cannot tell if we’re done or not with the nightmare in 2025.

Similar to how Key isn’t going to publicly ridicule the decision, Batt cannot publicly start an email out like, “this is going to suck but…” to announce this travesty.

Nonetheless the uber positive PR-spin and juice crew homers adds fuel to the fire since fans have every right to be pissed about this.
