I have a question for those of you suggesting HK won't play or shouldn't play. Are you saying that as your own opinion of what should happen or are you saying that as your opinion of what Brent Key will do? If it's the former then that's fine. I'm not sure I agree but that's mainly because I don't get access to medical experts who have evaluated HK and can tell me the impact of him playing on December 27 vs whatever they might do for his recovery. If it's the latter then I'm wondering what Brent Key you've been watching?

First and foremost I believe Brent's first concern for HK is his health. But if the medical team tells Brent that HK can play and there's no more risk for further injury just by playing (of course freak things happen in games so there's never ZERO chance of injury) and that there's no downside for his rehab by playing on December 27 and HK can be as effective as he was against UGA then, as long as HK wants to play, then he'll play. I just can't see Brent holding HK out of a bowl game under those circumstances.

As well as King played vs. Ugag, I would imagine he'll be in there against Vanderbilt. Any surgery will come after, unless it's already happened (which I doubt).
Plenty of time to recover from surgery after Dec. 27, only 18 days away.

CBSSports ranks the Birmingham Bowl as the 10th best bowl to watch.

Welcome back to bowl season, Vanderbilt. For the first time since 2018, the Commodores are rewarded with an extra game after a better-than-expected season that included a resounding win over then-No. 1 Alabama. We're told Diego Pavia and the Commodores are motivated to perform at their best, and Clark Lea's not expecting any opt outs for his team. Haynes King and Georgia Tech upended Miami recently and nearly took out eventual SEC champion Georgia on the road.

This game is sneaky important. Win and you might see us ranked to start ‘25 with some hype around that opener against Deion. Lose and I doubt anybody puts a 7-6 team in their preseason polls regardless of whether we deserve it or not.

All that to say, we shouldn’t treat this as a throwaway game and if King is healthy enough to go then he should start.
That’s fair, and I agree that winning this game is extremely important for our program and future

A win also gets us to 8 on the year, and tangible evidence of a program on the rise.
3 -> 5 -> 7 -> 8
Would be the first time since 2018 to win at least 8 games, which is about the universally agreed upon amount you have to have to be considered a “good team.”

I’m sure there’s also a lot of kids that we are recruiting against Vandy for. Similar schools with similar head coaches and similar play styles. This is a very important game for a multitude of reasons, SEC vs. ACC as well. If we could get all the defeatists on this board and in the fanbase to stop acting like babies who didn’t get their way and show up, a W in Birmingham is a great way to put a ribbon on the best Tech football season in a long time.

We might be the only ACC-SEC bowl where the ACC wins. Texas will beat Clemson, and Ol Miss will boatrace Duke

I don’t agree with your Texas / Clemson pick. I think Clemson can make it a defensive affair and notch a win. Clemson is quite possibly a straight up better team. Clem’s last two opponents are both on par with Texas.

Ole Miss I tend to agree with. Duke will clearly be outclassed, but this might depend on who shows up from Ole Miss and what mindset they bring. Maybe they’re headcases and the dookies steal one

If any of y'all old farts like me remember Kool Korner grocery on 10th just off Tech campus (best Cuban sandwiches anywhere IMO), they moved probably 10+ years ago to the Birmingham area. Last time I was there on business, I stopped by and it was just as good as I remembered from the late 90's. They had a bunch of Tech gear up in the store. If you go, you should look them up!
Yep. The traditional with Extra peppers and extra sauce was my go to. I went about 10 years ago. The guy had lost his wife already and I’m guessing he’s followed suit. I lived in home park so I was there about once a week.

Clemson did lose to South Carolina in their last regular season game. Of course they lost to their very mobile QB in a very close game, Ewers is not mobile. So probably a better match up for them.

We are driving from SC to see my husband's family in Arkansas on the 27th (had been planned for several weeks), and we are literally going to be driving right past the stadium a few hours before kickoff, which made it a no brainer! I was going to just jump out of the car, but my husband was nice enough to offer to stop first :). Will have three with me.

The last bowl I attended was the Music City Bowl against Ole Miss. This afternoon I looked at GT site for tix as well as the usual third party places. I had sticker shock to say the least. What is the going rate for decent seats these days for a bowl like this? will the price drop or increase as we get closer to Christmas? I requested 3 on one of the 3rd party places and put them in my cart. Price was $300. It was during the checkout I discovered that was the price per each and not total price so I aborted the mission. 😦 Appreciate any insight. I am leaning towards attending this game.

What kind of Cuban has peppers or sauce on it? The folks in Tampa that invented the Cuban sandwich would issue a cease and desist order against those folks! 😂

You'll almost certainly be able to get tickets for pennies on the dollar a few days before the game.
