Summer Baseball assignments

@FredJacket ...... don't see any stats on Colin Hall. Is he hurt ? Didn't report ? Maybe I'll make a few calls and find out. I do have reports that English is killing it up there with the bat. Has not pitched as of yet. Not sure what that means. I do know he thinks his future is pitching.

As for English... I would love to see him become a "national" story next year. Two way college players are on the decline & I like thought of Tech having one of the greatest. He has that potential. Like Brendan McKay (Louisville 2017) great.

And Tristin hasn't pitched yet it looks like. I still really hope Tristin is our 1st base when he's not pitching next year, he's got much better hands than the others. McCann can DH when Tristin is at 1st. I see he is playing 1st. But no stats on errors? I do like the spray chart they have there.

I am really pulling for Tristan. He just has the look and attributes of a great player. I also have it on inside info from a couple of his teammates that he is the strongest player on the team. Hope he has a great year in 2019 that propels him upward on the draft boards. Staying healthy will certainly help as well.

I think McCann will be playing C 3 out of 4 games a week is my uninformed guess. I am just guessing that because playing C is probably much more beneficial to McCann's draft stock. Maybe have Tristin play 1B and when he pitches, move McCann to 1B and let Turley play C?

So... with Kel still in mix(?)... have not heard anything official; but ramblinwreck.com is reporting his summer ball work.

Would the usual lineup have:
DH - Johnson
1B - English
C - McCann

Johnson sits on days English pitches.

As of right now, McCann will be the everyday catcher. He is catching in the Cape Cod league to get ready for the upcoming season. Turley will most probably be his backup. Scouts want to see McCann catch to evaluate him for next level. Turley good defensively, but light with the stick. Turley used to be a fairly good pitcher as well, really strong arm. Wouldn't hurt to give him a look in that area since that is our greatest need. A key to next season will be if Guldberg is healthy and able to take over an outfield spot.

I thought Turley would be our primary catcher next year. Which is why Hall kept McCann at 1st this year when Tristin was better.

But Hall playing someone for their draft stock as opposed to the team makes too much sense.

...I can predict it now. First bad outing in Spring... he was "used up" in Massachusetts in the summer.

I think it is important for Hurter to learn to get good hitters out. His results are very promising. Maybe he is learning HOW to pitch and I would assume there is some damn good instruction up there for pitchers. Continued good health and improvement to Hurter. Has got to master another pitch to move to elite status.

I was kind of hoping that he would develop a change up to get righties out down and away.
