You forgot a big one: any wins at all over ugag.
All but 1 of Gailey’s UGA opponents finished top 10.
CPJ had the good fortune of facing the four worst UGA teams since Ray Goff and went 1-3 against them.

Meh. The best team that Gailey had couldn't beat a UGA team that lost to Vandy and Kentucky. I am not convinced that Gailey would have won a single game against UGA had he stayed 10 more years. All but 1 of Gailey’s UGA opponents finished top 10.

hardly. There is no evidence whatsoever that CPJ gives a damn about ST. There's no coaching and, with the exception of Butker's years as PK, every other aspect of our ST have sucked entirely during the last 10 years. They never get better and that's all on ol' CPJ.
You are completely naive if you don't see that.
IMO you are deluded if you aren't seeing the reality of this program. TM's throwing technique is the worst in major college football. Throwing off your back foot and then flinging yourself to the ground is not how a ball is properly thrown. As he has done this all year, that's a clear indication of a failure of coaching.
On the D side, our "tackling", for lack of a better word, is atrocious. The angles our guys take to RBs and WRs is at the junior-high level. Zero pass rush, even against a team with no athletes like Duke.
We've now lost 3 of 4 to Duke. 2 of 3 losing seasons. We're completely trending downward and this is 100% a failure of coaching. How any of you can have such an "Oh Well. IIWII" attitude is beyond me. Frankly, that segment of our fanbase is a HUGE part of our problem. The Hill knows there are plenty of fans who are satisfied with losing to Duke and losing seasons as long as we blast some cupcakes and have rushing stats.
If you want to be concerned about mediocrity take a look at this list. The only school putting less into football is Wake Forest. Come on! CPJ is a good football coach and we must support him more than we have in the past. That is ridiculous!
So if we had a few extra five star guys that could do ST we'd be better? .... CPJ has recruit rankings that are bottom 4 of acc in 4 of the past 5 years. How does it get more bottom tier than that? There were a couple of rough years there, but our special teams have been pretty good generally under Paul Johnson and I like that we aren't afraid to use trick plays. Ryan Rodwell, Sean Poole, and Scott Blair were all good specialists. Jamal Golden was a pretty great returner. Our return game hasn't been as great but you have to understand that schools like UGA have 5 star athletes like Mecole Hardman (#12 overall player regardless of position out of high school) doing nothing but returning kicks for them. We aren't very good this year, but let's not act like overall Paul Johnson has fielded bottom tier units.
Tech is always going to have depth problems in football and basketball. While kids will be more willing to ride the bench for a year or two at Clemp or Ugag, or Duke and UNC for BB, putting up with Tech academics while waiting your turn takes a real special type person.I think we are agonizingly close to being a good team this year as evidenced by the close games we lost.
On both sides of the ball we were maddeningly inconsistent. On offense we hit a lot of big plays in the run and pass game. But we usually we weren't consistent enough to sustain long drives, particularly in crunch time when we needed to shorten the game. We lacked the ability to run when everybody in the stadium knows we are bleeding clock. We had too many three-and-outs, particularly in the second half of games. Injuries to a razor thin OL combined with a first year QB who is still learning the offense hurt. Early in the season key fumbles really hurt.
On defense we were also maddeningly inconsistent. We would stop folks most of the game only to give up scores just before half and at the end of the game. Scores that cost us wins. We did get pressure on the QB more this year but it was very inconsistent. Some games the QB had all day. After stopping the run well most of the year Duke ran all over us. Just inconsistent, and likely lacking in quality depth.
Biggest problems IMO are quality depth on OL, at DE, and to play special teams. I do think recruiting has generally improved (DE is a big exception).
However the ACC has turned into a very tough conference, and everyone's recruiting has improved just as much as ours. There are no easy wins like Wake, 'Cuse, UVA, and Duke used to be. There are more bonafide MNC contenders (Clemson, FSU, Miami). The second tier is littered with bowl teams who win out of conference more regularly and beat up on each other. NC State is actually good and UNC won big prior to rebuilding this year.
We have to work hard to keep up, especially in the trenches.
Johnson has a 51% FBS win percentage over the last 8 years. That's acceptable to you? I don't see how anyone can call themselves a Tech fan and deem that percentage to be acceptable.
Johnson's winning percentage is comparable to O'Leary and Gailey only because he didn't have to clean up a mess like O'Leary did and because he inherited Gailey's players. His first 2 years with Gailey's players were by far his best two years. He has also had the advantage of far more FCS teams on the schedule than Gailey had.
With regard to the ACC, from 2002-2005 we played 4 ACC teams ranked in the AP final poll twice and 3 teams so ranked twice. I don't believe Johnson has had a single year where 4 final AP ranked ACC teams were on the schedule, and I believe only 3 times in 9 years have there been 3 teams on the schedule so ranked. With divisional play, you can't say that the ACC is "much tougher", starting with the fact that we don't play a top 5 ranked FSU every year like we used to. Clemson is better, but they were frequently ranked when we played both them and FSU.
O'Leary had 5 consecutive final AP top 25 teams. Any argument that Johnson is as good as O'Leary goes out the window based on that one statistic. Johnson has had 2 final AP ranked teams in 10 years, and one of those was due to Gailey's recruiting
51% FBS win percentage over the last 8 years---if you are for Johnson, you are for continued mediocrity. Period. No debate about it.
And by the way, Johnson's win percentage for the three years prior to Roof: 52.5% Since Roof: 56.5% Is Roof really the problem?
My apologies. Yeah that's exactly how we teach QBs to throw..off their back foot while falling down. Imo you are a complete whiney baby that throws a tantrum when we lose and pretends to be a football expert proclaiming our coaches to be imbeciles when the reverse is actually true.
Thanks in part to usAll but 1 of Gailey’s UGA opponents finished top 10.
IMO you are an IIWII excuse maker for mediocre football and are more a fan of the scheme than the school.
Lmao....I've been a Tech fan since the mid 70s. Maybe that perspective helps grant me more appreciation of what we have than you can see.
I also know the difference when competing or fighting against someone who is physically bigger, faster, stronger than me. And how much sound fundamental technique is required to overcome someone physically superior to myself in those areas. Maybe that grants me better insight of what our team as a whole and players individually face from time to time.
The best chance for permanent mediocre, or lesser, football at Tech....is to let moronic individuals that are clueless on football, clueless of the recruiting world and Tech's place in it...start making decisions on football.

Respectfully, we should never be outclassed, out-talented, nor outplayed by the likes of Duke and UVA.
This season is extremely mediocre but a win on Saturday makes it a success. I'm not optimistic but stranger things have happened. THWG.
There was a feature video on Justin Thomas a few years ago with ACCN or ESPN. The reporter asked him how he throws and his reply suggested that the coaches do not work on technique with him. IIRC he literally said they did not work on throwing technique that offseason. JT had a solid throwing motion, but I'm sure the little nuances could have been improved. TM could sorely use some help. I tried looking around for the video but could not find it.
Part of me wants to say that this is inexcusable. The other part of me wants to say that there is only so much time they have for practice that CPJ needs to prioritize how to spend his time. It's better to be a master at some things than so-so at everything.
Also, these QBs need to take some accountability with this as well. If JT really didn't work on his technique for an entire offseason (again, this could be totally false as this my recollection of a random video from a couple years ago), then what was he doing? I personally know Wisconsin's QB and he does an unbelievable amount of work on his technique and overall QB play during the offseason (away from the Wisconsin program). With all the resources these guys have at their disposal (how many QB gurus would not want to work with a starting P5 QB?), they need to be accountable too.
Smh....imo we were out talented by uga the last year we won a natty. That's just for starters. Happened after that under Welsh also.
Respectfully....Other than your love for GT....what sets us so far apart from either program for you to take such a stance?
You sure JT's comments weren't talking about when he was in high school? Seems hard to believe the staff at GT was not working on stuff like that. I believe I even heard CPJ talk about TM and his arm slot, which to me would indicate they work on it. Or it could have been TM talking about his own arm slot, but even then I would assume the staff made it known to him. There was a feature video on Justin Thomas a few years ago with ACCN or ESPN.
