Sounds like Alberto is pulling away in the QB race.

Key is excited about the depth of our DTs and DEs. Sounds like a LOT of them will be rotating in and out.

Shocking, another elite Ivy League TE is expected to be really good for us.

Dalen Penson is gonna be a special football player for us it's sounding like. Notice I said football player. Key sounded like a kid with a bad@ss toy in his toy chest when speaking about him.

Sounds like Key really loves bringing Jason Semore back and is excited about how our defense will do with him as our DC

I agree and was a bit surprised about Key's comments about the QB's. Sounds like there is a clear #1 at this point (imo). Also got excited hearing him tak about Kevin Roche (sp?) as a TE prospect.

Man I think we are going to kick Colorado’s teeth in. It’ll be gas on the fire under Deion’s seat

Maybe it's the excitement of a new season and seeing new faces, but I'm pretty amped about getting this team on the field.

There are some special players (RB and TE may be our strongest positions on the team), a new QB, and we have some younger guys on both sides of the ball that sound ready to step in and play.

Spring game should be a fun time.

Much better job by Coach Key in this press conference. None of the cutesy banter with media, just a solid review of what transpired and how things are looking so far. I want to commend him. I see him growing in his position as well. We need that to reach the heights we dream of.

Go Jackets!
Key actually giving the blabber guys something to type is refreshing.

Key knows has to show he can devlope players for the next step. We are setting up for a finish strong end of year against quality teams/ coaches. Last year a swoon against quality coaches has to be erased.

Loved it when key was talking about how line calls echo out from center. In iirc the vt game they passed the call to Shamire at guard but he had such a low voce when in blocking position the tackle didnt hear the call - made the wrong block and got the face mask visit by cpj.
Love the mister postive head coach.

Yeah, I think the "open competition" at QB was just coach speak. It was pretty clear that Berto was brought in to be our starting QB.

Best ever Larry Munson call was the infamous "they are marching the ball down the field like we are Wake Forest or Maryland or somebody". I have to admit I enjoyed listening to Munson and spent many fall afternoons in SoGa dove fields with a transistor radio listening to Big Al Ciraldo and switching over on commercial breaks to listen to the Uga games (of course, hoping that they were losing!!!)
Actually, this is the call I remember most. The angst in his voice was music to my ears! If I recall correctly, I think I even did a jig!

You can bring a guy in with that in mind, but he still has to beat the other guys out. It also sounds like Grady might be ahead of Graham for the number two spot. I heard that in the “Locked On” podcast.

Wasn't expecting such a positive report on both lines.

DL depth? I thought that was an oxymoron!

Sounds like we have work to do but Key is seeing at least potential for being solid in the trenches next year. Would be yuge.

I didn't read Key's remarks as being settled on Mendoza. It was a practice report, after all. He might have run best that day; we'll just have to see.

I was also pleased that they moved Carney inside and that Riggs was having a good spring. Now all we hav to do is find a center - might have done - and get McKelvey and Petty back. Then we can have a good time in fall seeing who looks to show up. I liked it that Key gave Penson such a glowing review. The WRs have to show up next year. And that he liked THE TWINS™ so much was also a plus.

Overall, he seems pleased with the depth developing and the effort by the players. Hope that works out.

Yeah, he seems pretty positive which is nice but now gotta coach them up. Key has done a fantastic job at completely wiping away the previous regime and resetting the mindset. And I give HUGE props to the players for running with that mindset - Efford, King, Haynes, Rutherfor, Birr, etc. We have been blessed with some great young men on our team. We may not have won all the f
games, but I’ve enjoyed the last 3 seasons immensely. And I’ve always said in this board, I’m way past the point of living for every win and dying for every loss. I just want a good solid competitive team to pull for understanding we aren’t a powerhouse littered with 5 stars who will go 10-2 every year. I’m excited to enjoy a bunch of nail biters this year and hopefully we’ll get a few bounces our way.
