Auburn has been paying for players for a long time. This is not new to them. Their problem has been hiring the wrong coaches. You can pay all the NIL you want and still lose games. Spending NIL guarantees nothing. Just ask Kiffen.

If we're not making baseless assumptions what are we doing on a free message board. Be logical, why is the #1 transfer not signed? Either he's being very picky or none of his initial choices are willing to meet his #. These deals aren't that complex.

I just fail to understand why fans want to treat these kids like they are student athletes of old. No need to treat guys with kid gloves when they're trying to extract the max value from schools. These aren't naive 19 yr olds making their way in the world. They have agents. These guys don't care about GT in the same way that I (a pre NIL GT football player) or any other fan does. Transactional behavior is a two way street imo.

Nothing wrong with maximizing your earnings, go get yours. But you're looking at the program and your teammates and saying "I can do better than this set up". Hard for me to feel tons of warm fuzzies towards a guy like that

I don’t see the private equity play. Regardless, my previous comment stands. People are exhausted over the never ending demands for more money. In 1982, the ENTIRE athletics budget for Auburn was $1 million. Last year, it was $197 million.

The other issue is since we have taking a couple of WR transfers plus our incoming freshman class, despite how good Singleton is do we have room and NIL money to bring him back.

Well, now it seems plausible that we can push whatever money we were going to spend on Malik to ESJ if he wanted to come back. Maybe that helps.

PE is poison. If that enters college football it is a sign of how truly bad things have gotten. They will drive it into the ground while extracting every dime they can for personal gain.

FWIW, Auburn is announcing another round of price increases on season tix, justifying it by the NIL. Top players are in the million plus range, marquee players 2-3 million.

A price increase after a 5 win season??? The folks over there running the show must be crazy, stupid or have an understanding about the elasticity of demand for football tickets that I apparently lack.

All I know is that he stuck with us last year when it was pretty clear some big name SEC schools (sound like Ole Pis@) tried to lure him away. If he was as mercenary as some of you are saying, he could have left then.

None of us understand his situation. If he was doing this because his Momma was suddenly diagnosed with cancer and they needed the money for treatment, would you folks all jump on him as well?
