Auburn has been paying for players for a long time. This is not new to them. Their problem has been hiring the wrong coaches. You can pay all the NIL you want and still lose games. Spending NIL guarantees nothing. Just ask Kiffen.

I just fail to understand why fans want to treat these kids like they are student athletes of old. No need to treat guys with kid gloves when they're trying to extract the max value from schools. These aren't naive 19 yr olds making their way in the world. They have agents. These guys don't care about GT in the same way that I (a pre NIL GT football player) or any other fan does. Transactional behavior is a two way street imo.

Nothing wrong with maximizing your earnings, go get yours. But you're looking at the program and your teammates and saying "I can do better than this set up". Hard for me to feel tons of warm fuzzies towards a guy like that

There is a difference in not feeling warm for departing guys and dissing the departing players. You of course are fully aware of the difference. There have been several posts that are derogatory in nature about Singleton. They reflect more on the Poster than on the Player!

Maybe. But one of the reasons Harsin was fired was you don’t need a great coach if you can buy players. And the new AD admin has said that publicly.

I don’t see the private equity play. Regardless, my previous comment stands. People are exhausted over the never ending demands for more money. In 1982, the ENTIRE athletics budget for Auburn was $1 million. Last year, it was $197 million.

Ouch.
