I'm still too old fashion still want the hard tickets.
I understand the the Peters family left the land and restricted it's use to be a park.It was a park when I was in school in the 60s. Then Tech decided to make it a parking deck and put tennis courts on the top to call it a park. I always thought that was a shady way of doing business and should have been beneath GT.I later rewrote my will to take GT out of it because I did not trust them to use the money in the manner I wanted it used.Perhaps others will know as regards Peters Park, but I thought when the family first donated that to GT (Yes, a looong time ago) that codicils were put in place to prevent its use for several things.
Don't know if true or if still in force. I do know that long ago I had a frat bro that became an Architect and designed , and was willing to donate to GT, plans for an Athletic Dorm to be built there but was told it would have been prevented by the restrictions.
Again, long time ago.
There were no tennis courts on the deck originally. It was only when student groups pointed out deed restrictions that Clyde Robbins had to back down and pull the "tennis courts" trick. They insisted for a long time that no such restrictions existed.I understand the the Peters family left the land and restricted it's use to be a park.It was a park when I was in school in the 60s. I’ve been buying season tickets for 7 years now despite living no closer than 300 mi from Atlanta and most of the time outside of 500mi. Do some research on flights. I’ve flown up gameday and back the next for a long time now. I’m guessing you could do it on Southwest for about $250 a flight. $5 on Marta plus $100 hotel and you have a great & inexpensive weekend. The only thing I miss is my old college friends hang out Friday night before games. I used to fly back same day but the energy required for an 18+ hr day after a long work week coupled by the need to ration alcohol consumption dictated the hotel.Torn between cheap *** upper north pair of 2 or just going solo with 1 ticket down in the good seats. Problem is my gf isn't going to want to go to each game, so many games I'll be a one man wolfpack coming in hot with the flaps up. I had season tix in 204 from 03-07. When I moved up to Sconnie I just never bought them again since I'm lucky to make 1 or 2 games in ATL nowadays.
Decisions, decisions. Suggestions?
The problem is if you are not at a hub airport...connections can get risky....(I fly over 175 segments a year) Even the direct flights can be a problem....especially later in the year in the north.I’ve been buying season tickets for 7 years now despite living no closer than 300 mi from Atlanta and most of the time outside of 500mi. If I was having to connect somewhere to get to the game it would have to be a Friday night flight instead. I already take the 0 dark thirty to Atlanta so I don’t miss kickoff for the almost certain noon starts. The problem is if you are not at a hub airport...connections can get risky....(I fly over 175 segments a year) Even the direct flights can be a problem....especially later in the year in the north.
I just spent 24 hours in the Fargo airport...had I not gotten on the last flight out on Thursday night....I would not have gotten out until this afternoon. It was almost impossible to work.....300-400 people all fighting for the dozen power outlets available. If I was having to connect somewhere to get to the game it would have to be a Friday night flight instead. I have been thinking about leaving late Friday’s from now on, staying Fri & Sat night in Atlanta then flying back Sunday. My old body is starting to feel the effects of cramming 50lbs in a 5lb sack routine. It’s also easier to get Saturday morning work done in a quiet hotel room instead of a noisy airport.
Man that sucks.I just spent 24 hours in the Fargo airport...had I not gotten on the last flight out on Thursday night....I would not have gotten out until this afternoon. It was almost impossible to work.....300-400 people all fighting for the dozen power outlets available.
