The strange thing with height is how often he's transferring. Gotta wonder if he's even making progress to any degree. Might be ma tech came calling.

To be fair, with these multi transfer guys it's a bit expected. It's like being shocked your mistress who you left your wife for ended up cheating on you 2 years later.
It's worse than that. Mistresses are a dime a dozen. But edge rushers who have the ability to disrupt a QB and keep him from getting in rythm all game are truly special.

What’s hard to reconcile (now that it’s out in the open) is college football fans have completely different goals than college football players do. When a recruit commits, listen to how often they say they want to commit to X program win championships, battle for the conference title every season, beat their rival, etc. It doesn’t happen much. Yet, those are the goals of every fan.

Now that NIL and the portal exist, we simply have transparency into the mind of a big time college football player. It’s always been about using college to better yourself - and only the player can decide what’s best for themselves. As it should be.

Basically our pitch of a 40 year plan is meaningless now. What good is that when you can shop around in the portal and hit the jackpot and come out way ahead of a regular student that graduates from Tech?
We just need a 4 month plan. Will save a bunch of money on tuition.

That’s fine, just don’t be shocked when the fans say I’m not paying for this anymore

All for players to find a team and get paid, but there has to be a limit on how many transfers one can do or a time limit.
Or at least push the portal till after bowls/playoffs.

Know this isn't new, but I will admit seeing the sheer amount of transfers across the NCAA kind of turns down the excitement a notch.
Play well, bounce to a "bigger school" or bigger NIL deal.

Definitely need some type of regulation sooner than later.

Yes. There are people behind Height, particularly Cruz, who will prove just as effective, imho. I'm betting that Height saw the Edge players coming in and decided to leave while his NIL was still fairly hot. This also might prompt a move of Harping back to edge. Tech is full at TE, especially with the troops coming in, and Luke was a killer at DE in high school. We'll see.

As for the DL next year: we'll be young, but there are good players coming up. No doubt the coaches will be after an experienced DL or two, however. Have to watch that, though; a lot of the portal stuff is about playing time.

Luke kind of reminds me of the way Keith Brooking looked as a freshman (Brooking started out playing the edge - about 6'3" 225 - and a pure athlete)

Height had 34 tackles with 2.5 sacks. Granted, he had one huge sack against Miami, but that kind of production should be replaceable.

This.

The hope was he would take "the next step" and be more dominant next season. He was playing the best football of his career...he didn't get a lot of sacks, but he did get a lot of pressure when he was in. Height coming back would be a bet that he would do what Kennard did at USCminor...payoff with an even better season than 2024. The production itself in 2024 from Height shouldn't be hard for Key to replace.

But the fans aren’t doing that. Games are sold ou, even games that didn’t matter like UGA vs. Texas both times. Neither of those game really mattered because both teams were making the playoffs. And yet fans still traveled and spent money. If you decide to stop then fine, but you can’t make a blanket statement. The GT fanbase is growing because we are winning more games than we have in a decade.

If you don’t like relearning the names of our players from year to year that’s a you issue. I have no problem learning that Keion White is now Romello Height and that Romello Height is now player X. Y’all act like the sky is falling when it simply isn’t. All teams will have 11 players on the field next year. If you decide it’s not worth your dollars the fine but the rest of us will continue watching our team improve.

That’s great if you don’t play a team sport. Wtf does “team” even mean anymore? So much for all the BS talk you always hear about fighting for your brothers. It’s like the scene in Remember the Titans when the kid says “I’m not here for nobody, I’m gonna get mine.”
