Yep, and I won’t be surprised if he gets major playing time next year or even becomes the starter.Means we could see some quality james Graham time this year.

I hope at some point(s) in the season we get to see every single one of the freshmen on the field.Yep, and I won’t be surprised if he gets major playing time next year or even becomes the starter.
A few thoughts...
1) This could make lower tier bowl games more interesting i.e., why not give some young guys reps?
2) Would any teams view this as an opportunity to specialize roles for incoming freshmen e.g., COFH, could you in theory have a freshman sit out all year and get really good at one thing, whether it's a pass rush, punt return, trick play, etc. and save it for the Saturday after Thanksgiving? Potentially very challenging to scout those players, tendencies and line-ups.
3) This rule change makes it easier to avoid play guys who are playing hurt/on the verge of greater injury. A guy like Connor Hansen wouldn't have had his shirt burned last year, but more importantly he might have been inserted in the lineup sooner to relieve starters and our thin OL from having to push through.
I will. I'll be shocked.Yep, and I won’t be surprised if he gets major playing time next year or even becomes the starter.
Me too. Because that means we're blowing out some teams.I hope at some point(s) in the season we get to see every single one of the freshmen on the field.
Tell me you just forgot to add the sarcasm emoji.This.
I think we can all agree that the biggest problem in beating a team that recruits in the top 5 is that we can't play a few freshmen without burning redshirts.
Well, you can bet your house, and keep it, that one freshman that will be part of the 4-game set is a quarterback.Should but.
1our guys leave early due in part to great job opportunities.
2 we dont play the back ups due to - missed assignments are critical in our complicated offense.
Will require a change in phylosophy, but could help
I do too, unless thy just aren’t ready. You don’t want a guy on the field getting beat up and getting down starting to question if they can make it or not. You hear this a lot with pitching in the MLB.I hope at some point(s) in the season we get to see every single one of the freshmen on the field.
Other factors means that the coach only wants them to play in 4 games.I just re-read the original post on this thread concerning the new rules. I either ignored or missed the following --- "The new exception allows football players to preserve a season of competition if, for example, injuries or other factors result in them competing in a small number of games." I think many of us have not taken that delimiter into account and have been saying that players could play in 4 games and still be redshirted. But it would seem that injuries are still the key factor, plus "other factors," whatever that might mean. It seems that nothing much has changed other than the number of games an INJURED player could have played in and still be redshirted.
I doubt the NCAA would ever go that far.Other factors means that the coach only wants them to play in 4 games.

I may not have understood this correctly, but once you get to game 9-10 what's stopping every team from playing everyone since those games don't count? Do they need a medical waiver for it to not count or is it just a blanket mulligan?
