6'-4"...nice!!Nice passing mechanics - also had impressive burst of speed and elusiveness running the ball. Also made good reads on RPO. Excited to see him as a Jacket!

Here's another interesting write up I found from last summer's recruiting camp circuit. It's interesting in that 3 QBs who will play a roll in GT's future were all involved: GT signees Sims and Gleason, and UGA signee Beck (who we recruited as well). Sims put on a performance earned the MVP honors for that region and an Elite 11 invite, Beck earned an Elite 11 invite. Gleason had a strong showing, but failed to win an Elite 11 invite.

Of course, 7v7 without interior line play is far different from real football when you have to make quick decisions with LBs and DLs that want to rip your head off.
Here's a worthwhile video to watch. Highlights of Beck VS Sims as their teams played each other last season. Beck came out ahead on the scoreboard, but watching the highlights, it appears Sims was the more efficient QB with some nice throws. Beck had a lot of dump off throws...and didn't make any throws that wow'ed you for someone of his reputation. For the game, Beck was 15 of 33 for 177 yards and Sims was 12 of 21 for 167 yards.
BTW, Beck actually struggled this year...to the point that UGA made a run at 'Bama's QB recruit the last month of the early recruiting season.
In many ways I think the perception of our program is stronger out of state than in. I think there is an angle we can play for Atlanta kids but recruiting more than 20 miles OTP will be tough in state.
CDP does prefer to run the RPO as his bread and butter. My issue with CDP is that he doesn’t seem like the kind of OC who is going to take whatever players he has and make the best of their talents. And that’s true of many OCs who are very successful with the players they need to execute their system. So I hope we get guys in here fast that can run his system well because from what I saw of his offense at Coastal Carolina it seems pretty effective. Here’s a link to a video of them playing NDSU (whose QB was Carson Wentz) in the 2014 FCS quarterfinals
The truly great OCs like Ralph Friedgen are able to maximize what can be done with the players he has. He has won with guys like Boomer Esiason, Stan Gelbaugh, Stan Humphries (Chargers), Frank Reich, and then with Shawn Jones, Joe Hamilton, and Goose. All of those guys were talented but my point was that they represent several different kinds of QBs from the statue in the pocket to the mobile pocket passer to the multi-dimensional Shawn Jones and Joe Ham to whatever you want to call Goose’s style.

I judge a OC by:
Half time adjustments
If it was CPJ, as head coach, I would agree. Not sure how loyal CGC is towards the players. I think PJ's loyalty hurt him, at times. I think Collins truly makes it an open slot, regardless of who started, the prior season.Graham will be the starting quarterback against Gardner Webb on September 12th barring an injury
Which isn't a bad thing, let me add. Pushes everyone to do better. Competition that makes everyone better, can only help.If it was CPJ, as head coach, I would agree. Or maybe coach knew this year would be a disaster with whoever we played and he wanted Yates for 4 years with a better OL? We will not know how good Yates will be but I think with his one year in our system and what I have heard from his followers in HS, he will be hard to beat out at the start of the season. Anyway, it will be fun to watch the competition and may the best QB win.Or maybe his coach was just a dumba$$? I’m not writing off Yates btw, just not drinking the koolaide on him like quite a few on here...

I think he could be a 4 year starter. If we waste one of his years by putting him in for 2-3 plays in meaningless games I won’t know what to say. We either need to have him play all game for 4 games, then get 4 seasons out of him. Or we need to play him from the time he’s ready and the rest of the season. After watching Sims tonight? Would not surprise me to see him start a game or two.
