It seems to me that Collins' antics may be excessive and corny, but they aren't interpreted as someone disingenuous who is trying too hard to be something he's not. Instead, he seems to foster an attitude of being able to laugh at yourself and have fun while still working hard. That's a great thing.

There are things that scare me. He hasn't ever stayed in one place for very long. He seems to be great at starting a movement, but we can't really judge from this how he is at sustaining a culture. We don't know how organized he is. If he comes here, I think his success will depend a good bit on his support staff. I hope he retains some key figures from our staff and some key elements from our culture. Hopefully if he makes a splash we can reward him with a big enough spotlight and have guys that support his creativity and maintain his interest.

Or CPJ saw that we now an AD that gets it and has been able to convince others that the program has been void of resources $ for a long time. CPJ maybe saw that we are now heading in the right direction off the field and know it will take many years or longer then he wants to coach. He decided to pass off to a disciple so that the new coach can put his finger print on off the field improvement ie recruit and support staff.
You really think CPJ was doing so well that he was in a position to name a disciple to carry on his work? I think he has done well overall but the atmosphere of the program over the past couple of seasons hasn't exactly been positive.

Maybe not on the field to some. But from all account I've seen he has made major headway (compared to our starting point) with TS towards fixing the more challenging, off the field hurdles.

What is so hard to understand about liking:

9-4, 11-3, 6-7, 8-5, 7-7, 7-6, 11-3, 3-9, 9-4, 5-6, 8(hopefully)-5

more than

7-6, 7-6, 7-5, 7-5, 9-5, 7-6, and NOT running the option?

I will never understand it.

I enjoyed the first 7 years of Johnson. Unfortunately the program took a downward turn after 14.

The last 4 years Johnson is 24-24. It seems the Johnson folks like 7-5. At least they liked it this year.
I just laugh because everyone seems to think that we will become overnight sensations by ridding ourselves of the 3o. I hope you are all right and my hesitation is unwarrented ... But 100+ years of history says otherwise. Unless the new coach can continue to level the $$ playing field. I am hopeful Collins can do some positive thinks, but I'm not betting on winning 10+ each year.

Quinlan says the search may be nearing an end, but Suguira says it may take another week and a half....

The key word being "may". Neither one of them probably knows. I think TStan enjoys leaking misinformation to those guys and watching them run with it.

Hasn't stayed in one place very long bc he kept getting better jobs. I don't see that as a bad thing. If hired, and he does well enough at GT to garner interest from other schools, mainly the factories/blue bloods, then great. That means we're winning. He's from GA so that might keep him here. Maybe he'll be tired of moving by then. If not, we'll get to do this again in 3-4 years.

Maybe he's saying different things to different people to see who's the rat on the ship.

It’s not even T Stan giving them info. I didn’t think it would be that great to sign up so I tried a couple month thing and now I’ve signed up for a year. I’ll levae it at that, but if you rememebr our GTSwarm co founded then you would like Kelly’s info.

Geoff Collins was offered - a 5 year deal worth $14m that escalates over time. He verbally accepted it on the spot, but wanted some time to talk it over with his wife Jennifer to make sure they were on the same page. There should be an announcement by this weekend.

How's that for a dream I had last night? Crazy when you think about this stuff in your sleep.

We have not been ranked since the 2nd week of 2015. This is the longest such stretch since 86-89. People acting like Johnson dramatically overachieved here just don’t understand our history.
