Yeah, well....Marco Coleman didn't play nose tackle. He had some mighty talented and large guys on the inside (Kevin Battle comes to mind). Right now our pantry is looking sparse on the inside of the DL. As far as I can tell, we don't have anyone on the interior DL after Van Den Berg that has played significant minutes. The guy from UCF has been a role player and nobody knows if he can make the jump to 1st team starter in the ACC. I sincerely hope I am totally wrong about the interior DL and that we have a bunch of "Dudes" that have been biding their time on the scout team.
There are‘t any “dudes” like you're describing in the portal for us to get. We’re either getting role players or unproven talent. We’re young, but the cupboard is not bare.

We've got 1 techs, and 3 techs We really need edges and some of these edges can slide in side ot be rush 3 techs.
Who do we have that can play 1-tech? I know that Van Den Berg can slide over to 1-tech, but 3-tech is a better fit for his skills. I thought that we basically just lost all our 1-techs to graduation and the portal.

He could have.

But from the roster it looks like we have plenty of young players who fit your bill waiting in the wings for a chance to play. They'll get it next year, I expect. Still, I look forward to seeing what the coaches are actually up to here.

Coleman was a DE/LB (3-4). We had Battle, McLary and Rudolf who played DT at that time.

I think thatTech is obviously looking at tweens. Almost all the DLs from the portal are tweens. We recruited two tweens as well.

What's a tween? That's Marco Coleman: 6'2", 230 in high school with just about the most impressive pass rush stats in the US. Why didn't he go to OSU? Because he's too small to play in the DL and too big to be a reliable LB. So Ross takes him and the rest is history.

Do we have a Marco in the works? I don't know, but the coaches seem to think there's a chance. I'd bet on the guy from Mercer myself.

We are a year ahead in building depth in ol.

Ol Recruits = 2 years ago better, 1 year ago good, this year good. 25 is transition off of using portal to be competent.

Defense will needcto find identity in a scheme using aversge players. No more c defenses like first half of Sycuse or last 5 minutes uga.

I think after spring ball the coaches will have a good idea if the young’ns are up to the challenge or if we need to get another DT in the portal

We have several in that range waiting. In this defense the 1 tech is a one gapper and slanting if we are playing santucci';s correct. Van der berg is likely sliding over, Jones as well. Give them an offesean more.

Yeah, maybe Shymeik and Landen aren’t too far behind the guys graduating. JVDB, UCF guy, and Jason Moore all have legit snaps. Wasn’t Moore potentially gonna start at Temple before he came back? Landen coulda been near ready but they decided to RS him. He was a true freshman. Didn’t Shymeik start the year injured? Feel like I saw him on the bike a lot in camp. Add in a talented Christian Garrett and maybe we’re in better shape than we think. Still wanna add 1-2.

Did he enroll early?
According to this:

Dec 29, 2024: Enrolled

Derry Norris enrolls at Georgia Tech Yellow...

Also offers from Alabama, Michigan, Florida, Texas...

Rushed for 86 yards on 5 carries in his senior year, too, in case we need a fullback in the red zone.
