If you believe on3, the past 3 years an average of 65% of portal players find new homes... right now they are showing about 14%...so there is alot more signings to come...may not be fancy but we have a shot at finding serviceable players

I quit worrying about who was coming and going when NIL came in the scene. With few exceptions, I guess, it’s the money that matters to today’s college football and basketball players, not the school or the education. Those college sports are no longer “amateur” sports; they are semi-pro ones and players go where they can make the most now and/or improve their stock for draft purposes. Our coaches will do the best they can to put the best product on the field with the resources the program has. Go Jackets!

So what happens with the 35%? What percent end up back on their original team?

First a caveat. The portal is not public. So, when 247 and Rivals and ON3 say so & so has hit the portal they are basing that news off social media or contact with the player or his family. I think it is true that a good many players transfer and their names never appear on the 247 list. I think close to 30K athletes transferred in 2023 and more than 1500 are said to be in the football portal today. What happens to the players who don't get picked (or publicly signed) is likely they go back to school on their own dime. Or get a job. I would not be surprised to learn that a few do neither.

So if a player who saw limited playing time yet the coaches still want them to stay on scholarship, what would compel you to enter the portal and become one of the 35%?

Just because players like Singleton know they can get a spot and big bucks doesn’t mean everyone does.

Do people simply ignore the red lines? My problem is letting my mind outrace my fingers to the point where I leave out words. Then I get in a hurry and fail to proof read what I typed. We all have little quirks in our posts.

You have identified my problem. I don’t type every word that I’m saying in my head and I don’t proof read when I’m in a hurry.

Yeah, I just said what you said.

What’s funny is when I type something a lot of people like that has an egregious typo. People clearly are overlooking and forgiving of my typo but it seems to perpetuate my post, hanging out there naked, with all its embarrassing imperfections. Oh, the shame.

First everyone wanted facts, then they moved on to grammar, and now they want correct spelling?!

The standards are ridiculously high for a free site...
