Player Leadership

CPJ commented in the post game presser that Tobias doesn’t make the right pre-snap checks. It sounded to me that until Tobias improves in that area, he isn’t go unseat Taquan as the starter.

CPJ also defended Taquan’s passing. Said that the other players have to do their part too.

While I am disappointed I will not call out a player by name. The two individuals named in this thread are true GT men through and through and while I may harbor concerns about this team and think changes are necessary, I don't like calling out specific players.
I don't know whether it is "calling them out" to name them. If for instance we say that "We can't pass the ball" didn't we just name the QB? I don't want to blame the whole team if it is the QB. As for the WRs, I don't have a clue whether they can go fetch it, and nobody else does either. How can we? That's just the reality of it. I think they can and should be named as long as insults and ridicule are not stacked atop each other as too often happens on anonymous social networking sites.

WRT the receivers, is it that they are unable to catch the ball or is the QB incapable of throwing a catchable ball. Stewart caught a Marshall pass on Saturday....but catching it out of bounds doesn't count.

Tobias threw two passes and completed two passes. IIRC he has as many TD passes as the guy ahead of him on the depth chart.

Edit: I stand corrected, only half as many passing TDs in about 1/8 the playing time.

People are dumping on TaQuon a lot, and there obviously are legitimate flaws with his game, but he kind of has the Joshua Nesbitt ability to make something out of nothing when a play goes south or the center snaps the ball into the ground. Don't think he gets enough credit for that.

Dating back to after last years UNC game Taquon is 3-8 (and ZERO road wins......) with only 2 wins over non-FCS teams. I'm sorry but he is not getting Kirk Cousin's money where you can be terrible against the worst NFL team and still get to be the starter. Jalen Hurts was 13-1 last year and was REPLACED at half time because at the end of the day the most important thing is WINNING. Now all of these losses are not on Taquon however he has not helped the cause a lot of the time. Taquon is a great student athlete representing Tech however at the end of the day results are all that matters. Kind of like the real world unless your Daddy is the boss....

He got plenty of credit for the good things that he did last season. And many proclaimed him to be the "Second Coming". But then all of the sycophants totally ignore his obvious flaws.

But when you go 2/9 passing with an INT and one TD in a game where your school's most hated rival whips your tail and then a week later you show up to cheer that same rival on in their conference's championship game and mug for the camera, you should probably expect fans of "your" team to let you know or at least discuss among themselves your on the field shortcomings. Even "yo, it's Georgia, it's just a game dawg" doesn't rise to this level of tone deafness. So Mr. Reggie Ball wherever you are, I owe you a huge apology.

Guy's unless they have changed something there are 11 players on offense don't think the QB can block if he has the ball. And if your going to blame the offense ( or Taquon) on the games we lost last year you may want to watch again most of those games were on the defense. Is he a good passer no but to blame him is wrong.

One of his HS teammates is a Mutt. The best thing to have done in that situation would have been to watch the game from the comfort of home and then quietly congratulate his friend out of public view. An incognito appearance would have even been preferable. I mean come on, the wound of a crap season and a bad loss at the end was still fresh. The loss, by the look on his face in the photo from that game, didn't appear to bother him one bit. That lack of caring, and lack of attention to detail has apparently infected the entire team.

How many of our players have parents that played for uga? I know 2 and perhaps 3. These people love tech for both football and academics. They root for both teams but they root the hardest for their sons team.
. I can see why the root for uga against Alabama

It's a small segment of society that can make a NCAA team and I am glad we are getting converts.

Love any SA who wears the GT uniform. However, we have to talk about things when "it" just isn't getting done for an extended period of time....the stats say what needs to be said for the current GT offensive starters and they suggest we need to play more QBs for the future as well as for the present. From 2015-now we have been lacking guys on our roster who make game changing plays (ie plays that give GT the chance to overcome talent gap)...Justin Thomas is a good example of the it factor for us and we need more guys like that no matter who our coach is going forward. 2015 was a surprising disaster for many GT fans and in 2016 we had a few guys left over from the 2014 team that had this quality in a rebound year...we also had a really good set of young players that sadly disappeared from the roster via transfer or dismissal. When we lost these playmakers, they were replaced by guys who have put simply struggled at this level of college athletics...I think this quality is different than talent in some ways but GT has always relied in the good years on just a handful of guys that have this quality on either side of the ball. We also have had zero luck the last few years...but I have noticed luck is correlated with these guys.

I feel like GT only needs a few of these guys to turn the tide compared to other programs....its always been that way for us in my lifetime. Need to find them and sign them regardless of position just like what happened with Thomas and others like him. We need to put playmakers on the field and I think things will work themselves out.

Didn’t Roman Reigns allegedly beat the crap out of Ball for that comment?

Or at least wish his friend have a good game.

I’m glad you said this because it’s a continual sore point with me because I don’t understand it.

I haven’t seen personal comments about either man in this thread I see football comments about football players.

I fully get the offensive nature that apparently have been posted to some of the players personal media and I oppose them vigiously but I simply don’t know how to talk about football without talking about players involved. At the minimum everyone who watched the game(s) know exactly who is the subject of any particular play.

Saying a player should be benched for a couple of series isn’t a personal comment, it’s a comment on his play.

How do you say that the offensive captain hasn’t won a road game, which is a fact, without every knowing that you are talking about TM ?

I get these guys are students but they aren’t made of paper.

How can all of us demand more fans, more involvement and better coaching without saying fans aren’t good and coaching is insufficient ? How do we ask fans to “support” the team but keep silent about the negatives for the sake of football players feelings ? Especially when a lot of these civil fans are monetarily supporting the team.

It’s really hard to talk football if we are only allowed to say a players name when he does good things. I think most of us have learned enough about football through our lives to speak on the need, for example, of having a QB that completes his passes or a OL men that knows the snap count and it not be considered a personal attack.
