Paul Johnson to retire

I should try to get all my thoughts into one post, but this is surprising. I really thought we had a chance to be a good team next year. Unless we get Monken or Bohannon we will probably struggle for a few years to win games. If I was a betting man (I am) I imagine Stansbury will go after someone sort of young that has some recruiting prowess, I just can't stress enough how bad a hire Whisenhunt would be.

I'll say this though, to follow up on my last post, I would be pretty heartbroken if he retires then comes back out of retirement and leads another team. Ugh, that would suck.

That's gonna happen. Look at other coaches. Ross, Holtz, Curry... They'll miss it too much.

If we hire a small school football coach, many big donors will not be thrilled.
It’s going to be one of three things:
Tech Man- Whisenhunt, Key, Godsey
CPJ tree- Bohannon, Monken
Big Name with controversy probably - Lane Kiffen, Gus Malzahn

I can guarantee if we hire Whisenhunt the 125mm will be fully funded overnight.

Sometimes there is more to a hire than appears. He would be great with the big donors.

I understand many probably see a repeat of CCG in him.
