T-Wolves might as well have just waived the guy. Terrible trade

It's real bad if you look at the draft picks that were involved.

Taking the original trade to get Jimmy Butler - the Bulls traded Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the 7th and 17th overall picks in the 2017 draft for Robert Covington, Dario Šarić and Jerryd Bayless. Those picks turned into Lauri Markkanen and Justin Patton - Markkanen is a very nice piece, Patton has been hurt basically his whole career and might never play again.

But man ... that's a lot they blew with not much to show for it other than one quick trip to the playoffs.

Convington is an extremely good player - 1st Team All-Defense (and all the metrics back that up) and an above average 3pt shooter. Covington is basically what you would hope Okogie matures into as his career advances.

Love Okogie and his game, but he's not even close to taking a spot on the court from Covington right now. Give him a couple of years in the league to work on his shot and his decision making and to get more experience defending NBA sets.

I hear you and am aware of the metrics and his 1st team all-d selection. I'm just not a fan and I think his defense is aided by Embiid's presence. I feel he'll get exposed now that he's on his own.

Plus IIUC Thibs' defensive schemes are lagging behind the current offensive schemes in the league (apparently even more than others) so that won't help him either.

Got a big shout out on NBARadio this morning.

Host, Frank Isola, said stte, MIN did a good job picking that kid outta GT. He's a good young player. Plays both sides of the ball, hard worker, on and on.

Scalabrine agreed. Said the Selltics were super high on Okogie too.

Looks like Okogie is done for the season barring an injury to someone else. Hasn’t played since the trade. Kind of sad given how well he was playing and how much energy he was infecting into his team.

Sadly, Thibs is even more in survival mode so Josh will be relegated to simply being a practice body now.

Okogie must not have just pissed in someone’s Wheaties, he must have dropped trou and crapped in the bowl as well. Has he been banished to Siberia or will we see him play again?

We've been trying to tell y'all all year, the fact that he was playing at all earlier was the surprise. Him not playing now, at all, was the expectation.

Only things he did wrong were (a) not be a former Bull and (b) not be a grissled, 30+ year-old vet.

Gets 2 minutes over 6 games. That stretch is book ended by two double digit scoring games hitting 3 threes in each.
