Calvin on why he picked Tech over uga… seems like he just wanted to chill a while LOL

I'll try to find the interview, but his mom said she was not going to let Calvin go to UGA. Our staff and academic advisors sold her on GT's academics, and GT was good enough in football at the time that Calvin would have the big football experience. If you know Calvin's mom, well, she ruled the Johnson household.

However, Calvin experiencing weed for the first time at GT is new to me. Momma Johnson may have had a different opinion of GT and Calvin's options if she would have known about that incident. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Imagine taking positive press about GT and twisting it so much you turn it into something negative
Happens all the time with some. Anything positive must have a dark side that has to get equal or more time. Some GT folks are really bad about this. I guess just eternal pessimists.

The casual fan or recruit isn't gonna audit every TE on the list from every school on the list. Getting the name out is good.

First you have to take the list as credible. Second our TEs have done little at GT. Now when we get 5 top 100 draft picks in a 2-3 year period we know things have changed for GT football. This list is fools gold.
The uGA TEs on this list are:

Brock Bowers
Darnell Washington
Charlie Woerner
John FitzPatrick
Tre McKitty
Lawrence Cager

So one starter, two backups, a third-stringer, and two fourth-string TEs. Darren Waller had more yards in a down 2023 than all six have in their entire careers, combined.

This is a meaningless offseason tweet meant to get each college to retweet/like and thump their own chest. I don’t get why GT fans gotta undermine themselves instead.

Chest Thumping is only meaningful when it is actually meaningful. Waller has had several All Pro years and has been a true Stud several years. The point is GT needs more studs in the NFL! Until that happens then these lists in May are just stupid.

Fortunately GT was mentioned almost every time Gibbs was talked about last season. He is a stud that GT needs more of in the NFL to gain traction as a school that puts players in the NFL..

GT currently has 4 significant players in the NFL and 2 others worthy of note. Butker, Shak Mason, Keon White and Darren Waller were all starters. Mason is a solid reserve for the Niners and a significant ST player. Juanyea Thomas played a lot for the Cowboys in Dan Quinn's defense last year. His role will be interesting this year with Zimmer as the DC.

Hopefully going forward we will have more guys who play on Sunday that are starters or major contributors.

I mean I do agree I want something actually worth touting and I think we’ll get there. I’m just saying approximately 0% of uGA fans saw this tweet and went “well um actually, only one of those six is worth a damn”

Any time anyone posts something that casts GT is a positive light is a good thing. It doesn't matter whether it's of substance or not. Anyone can pick these types of posts apart, but seldom does that happen. Bottom line is we're a top producer for TE's in the NFL according to at least 1 person. Most people will take that at face value. A good thing.

Lord have mercy what a bunch of sensitive GT fans. Outside of Waller the rest have a total of 8 catches for 76 yards and 0 TDs in their NFL careers.

As I said, Waller is a multi time All Pro. When any of the others accomplish something then Jump up and down waving your Gold and White Pom Pom looking thru your Gold colored glasses.

GT badly needs more players who will be impact NFL players if we actually intend to compete for ACC Championships and not get left behind when College Football as we know it collapses. Of course those celebrating this meaningless Hype will say we are doing great and be happy we have been relegated into the lower tier of college football!

One way to help attract these players is to be perceived by recruits and transfers as a school that gets players into the NFL. Sure, impact players help the perception, but to many, quantity is as important as quality. Not many beyond frustrated GT fans do a deep dive into the stats to critique the far-too-rare good publicity.

Walk the run
6 years ago Harvard and Gt had same number of players in NFL.

GOING WRONG WAY HAS STOPPED
Gibbs left due to terrible ol w no debth or no sign of improvement. OC game plan had no side to side so the TE had no role due to 8 in box defense. Qb was athlete but did not see future.

Now We have (IN ONE YEAR) transitioned to ol with depth, clever oc, qb that last may was rated 12th in acc but at end of year lead acc in yards. We have some really high celieng back ups in qb room.
WE KNOW, BUT NO ONE ELSE DOES.
Will our oc improve? Will our defense show violence in dl and lb? Only Gt football nerds have reasons to be optimistic.
Once we get some big wins, tprepublic will look at l
Gt players as possible NFL DRAFT possibilites and not walk on special team fodder guys.

No one is disputing any of this. That doesn't mean you (the royal "you") **** on the positive social media posts. Anything good is helpful. The USN&WR rankings are a joke, but people choose colleges based on them. If it puts us on someone's radar that we wouldn't necessarily be on, how is that a bad thing?

Football recruits are way smarter than that and you know it! GT students don't chose GT for our athletic teams in 90+% of the time. They come to GT because of GT's academic reputation.

If we beat FSU then we all should Jump up and Down celebrating! Posting the victory everywhere. That would matter.

I assume this is sarcasm?
No it is not. HS recruits actually know way more about football programs than you give them credit. The high end recruits have advisors now. They know which schools produce NFL players. Most have zero chance of actually playing in the NFL. The ones that do know the landscape.

What are you even talking about at this point dude? You’re tying yourself in knots trying to twist one singular graphic of positive GT news into something negative. Give it a rest bud

The recent grades of the FB team should be really publicized. That is impressive.
