THE FLATS - Georgia Tech athletics begins living the Three Stripe Life on Sunday when adidas becomes the official apparel partner of the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech and adidas announced their multi-year partnership on Aug. 22, 2017, effective July 1, 2018. In the 10 months since the announcement, the two brands have collaborated to provide Yellow Jackets student-athletes and fans with top-of-the-line athletic apparel, as well as story-telling aimed at highlighting their shared commitment to innovation and honoring the history and tradition of Tech athletics.

“Georgia Tech is a terrific partner for us and I think that through our collaboration and the integration of our brands, we will be able to tell the story of Georgia Tech and adidas in the marketplace,” said adidas sports marketing director for NCAA Jim Murphy. “I think that the athletes, fans and everyone associated with Georgia Tech are going to benefit from the collaboration and integration of our brands and the terrific partnership that we enjoy.”

Sunday’s official launch will be celebrated on Georgia Tech athletics’ official website (ramblinwreck.com) and social media channels (@GTAthletics on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram). Georgia Tech’s official 2018-19 adidas apparel will be shipped to retailers beginning on Monday and will be available in stores and online by mid-July. A limited run of Georgia Tech/adidas apparel that was unveiled earlier this spring is still available online at ramblinwreck.com.

Georgia Tech’s official adidas game uniforms will be unveiled in a series of events throughout 2018-19, beginning with the Yellow Jackets’ much-anticipated football uniforms later this summer.

“We’re excited to officially become a Three Stripe school on Sunday,” Georgia Tech director of athletics Todd Stansbury said. “We’ve been thrilled with the partnership that we’ve forged over the last 10 months with the brilliant people at adidas and we’re looking forward to sharing the fruits of that relationship with our student-athletes and fans. It will be transformational for Georgia Tech athletics.

“I’d also like to thank the great people at Russell Athletic as our long and beneficial partnership comes to a close,” Stansbury continued. “They have been a terrific partner of Georgia Tech athletics for many years and we wish them nothing but the very best going forward.”

Baseball’s Kyle McCann will become the first Georgia Tech student-athlete to compete in adidas athletic gear during Saturday night’s College Home Run Derby at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha (site of the College World Series), which will be televised live on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Only one opinion here really matters. @SecretAgentBuzz

Thanks! I'm all for tradition, but I think some sweet Adidas kicks for Buzz is a great idea. Chuck Taylors look cool, but don't give the best support. I am excited to see what they come up with, both for football jerseys and for Buzz's new shoes!

I know, but it's Adidas, and the hat is blue too. It sadly won't surprise me at all if he's wearing blue tonight as well. The only way to distinguish him from the Auburn guy next to him is by the logo on the shirt. Auburn's PRIMARY colors are blue and orange; Tech's are WHITE AND GOLD.
Don’t have a heart attack until you see the complete uniform.

Obviously, they don't, but that is assuming the logo can be seen. If you just see the shirt or the cap and can't see the logos, then how the hell can you tell the difference? Both shirt and cap should either be gold or white.

Okay, make it gold instead of navy. But then you could say instead of Auburn we look like Vandy, UCF, Purdue, etc etc etc from a distance.

I understand you don't like Navy blue, but it is part of GT.

And navy blue is awesome. ;)

So make the caps and shirts white, if you think Purdue's, UCF's, and Vandy's black and gold would be confusing. With all the schools which have the color blue as a PRIMARY color, why on earth was blue ever a part of GT? The vast majority, if not all, of schools in the country proudly display their PRIMARY colors. Why the hell are we not satisfied with doing that, choosing a SECONDARY (formerly tertiary) color instead? You may think navy blue is awesome, and I will concede that our 1990 and 2014 OB uniforms were very good looking, but the fact remains that we are the White and Gold, NOT the blue and whatever.

But I don't think those schools' colors would be confused with ours, you do.

No, I don't. I was using them as an example of how many people would confuse them as GT as they would Auburn to us, which is pretty much nobody.

You acknowledge that the 90 team and 14 team wore blue, I don't know what else to tell you. For the last 3 decades blue has been one of our colors. Stop yelling at the clouds dude, navy blue is part of who we are.
