What am I missing here? Why was the comment even made that it was very HBCU like. Does HBCU mean something different from what I think it means, and what does it have to do with that great ad at all?

I think that the OP is a fan of HBCU schools and is happy to see that this is reminiscent of communications from schools in that classification. Some of us thought (incorrectly and myself included) that the OP was saying that we shouldn't do something that would fit in well with HBCU schools. He's since clarified that is was a 'Thumbs Up', not a potentially derogatory comment.
