I had to suffer thru the BC game where Matt Ryan picked the Tenuta defense apart. And that was a pretty "traditional" offense. Now image RPO and zone read and all the new schemes that are taking over...a zone blitzing scheme might be the worst possible tactic against current offenses. Tenuta was a good DC, but between his tactical limitations and his infamously *****ly demeanour, the game has left him in the past...

I ended up playing flag football with a WR that played for BC in that game. Dude was legit FAST...fast guys looked like they were running in quicksand next to him. This was like a decade after that game. He told me BC knew exactly what Tenuta was going to do against every offensive look of BC's, and they pretty much attacked it the same way every time. Tenuta had a reputation within the ACC, that he would come up with a game plan against every team, but if you were able to crack it, Tenuta could never adjust to it on the fly. I think we all saw that up close. His defenses were very "all or none".

Yeah, the inability to adjust in-game was Tenuta's Achilles heel. Personally, I don't want that and I don't think we have the talent for it. We have struggled for quite some time to get consistent pass rush. Going to a roulette style blitz scheme is not very appealing right now...

I know I only went to Southern Tech so not as smart as most on here (but I believe you would promote someone (Jess Simpson) and hire a LB coach.
For the record, we don’t question your intelligence bc you went to Southern Tech. We question it bc you went to Southern Tech but chose GT as your favorite team 😉. We know you had options!

I had this all written up as a reply and then deleted it. Just left it as a "bad idea."

YES
But what do you think about uga in athens where we whip uga for all but 5 minutes and lead 28 to 13 and then play 3 man line with soft zone.
Some of us are still seeking clousure and cling to old blitz.

Watching the nfl playoffs - i see a lot of teams play our offense. No one has a 3 man line with soft zone.
GROH was Fianly fired because MTSU stole our signals. He believed in dl dominate and rwad that means Gt needs a stud NT.

I am pretty bummed out about - just before spring our dc leaves for lessor level coaching and we have youth movnent in dl.

WTF.

I see you guys after spring training gets
How is going to the Pros a lesser-level coaching position? I KNOW you're more knowledgeable than that.

Good point that made me think.

At Gt DC is above LB coach.
Its same in pros.
But I agree that pro experience is better. Baltimore coaching staff is on rise - way faster than gt. A couple of years at baltimore and then return to a top p5 dc or get on path to be pro dc.

Back to your point in previous post.
Iirc key talked to a guy that had multple pro position coaching spots. Maybe he is ready to give gt a pro flavor.

I just want to see an agressive defense.

In 65 first roomate had girl friend in southern county in ga
Nature lured him into driving home each weekend.
Calculus sent back for good.
He talked about transfer to a tech college.

Were you at STech back then?
I started in 78 graduated in 81

This was Southern Tech in marietta and now part of Kennesaw which pissed off most of the ones I went to school with the only thing we liked about kennesaw was they had women. I was in civil engineering technology and there was only one women in it.

I’ve never understood the fascination with Tenuta. I always found myself holding my breath when his defense was on the field. Too many games in which we needed a stop and the opponent marched down the field because he kept giving up chunk plays.

Lots of good DCs today know how to dial up a blitz and still balance that with down and distance game awareness.
