Almost like, and I’m just spitballing here, “I’m not good at all in this new portal / NIL culture but I’ll be happy to stick around and advise you about it.”

Hard to blame him. Good coach who did probably about as good as job as you could given the situation where he was at.
Wake is going to be a very difficult job to win in - probably even moreso in the new model. Small, academic focused school with a limited alumni base that is likely to limit its NIL capabilities.
Realistically probably one of the 5 worst power conference jobs.

Difficult enough to win there before NIL and portal. Many others have tried and failed.

Monken ain't leaving army. The academies are the last places where you don't have to **** around with NIL ****.
You say this as their running back entered the portal. I probably would’ve thought the same until that happened. I don’t know how that works with the commitment you’re supposed to give to the military. They do appear to deal with it less at the academies.

You can always leave the academies by washing out.

I can see leaving Army for Wisconsin, or Indiana, or another school with an alumni base and funding. Monken is better off at Army than at a lot of programs--especially Wake

My understanding (quick googling)... service academy cadets/midshipmen have no service obligation as long as they transfer prior to start of Jr year. Udoh is in this category.

This applies to all enrolled... not just athletes.
