Don't recall seeing much discussion about this rule change previously. Initial reaction is this is good for GT and especially a team whose OC does not use hand signals. What do you think?

Auburn's Gus Malzahn: NCAA headset rule will hurt college football

Earlier this month, the NCAA passed legislation that will cap the number of people on headsets to 20, including 15 coaches.

Malzahn said the decision to limit the number of headsets will affect what a coach normally does during the course of the game. In the past, staff members could listen to play calls on headsets and chart plays accordingly. That information would then be relayed to coaches at halftime.

Now that whole process will be hampered.

"I don't care if you have 50 off-field guys or two off-field guys, most teams in college football are going to have off-field guys on a headset at least charting or doing something like that," Malzahn said. "And then you talk about the signaling aspect. ... It affects the game."

Not sure who else has been vocal about cut blocks other than Beamer but Cutcliffe at Duke has been extremely critical of cut blocks for several years now. I guess someone is listening. Duke radio announcer would pontificate about our cut blocking before every game we played against them. The rules have been changing over the years to favor pass protection (holding) but now are penalizing our style of offense. This is all based on bias and not facts.

This proposed rule hurts the major programs with unlimited resources and helps us. I’m still not happy about the bs cut blocking change though.
