Yup injuries matter. A Drones was extremely limited vs GT. Hurt going into the game. They still won easily. Oh yea Tuten their RB who is 2nd in the ACC in rushing yards per game was hurt as well and very limited. He didn’t play the following two weeks as well. As I said all teams have significant injuries. King being hurt was a major loss for sure. Haynes missing a game+ was significant.

My point is we are not unique in this regard. It’s the nature of football. Sucks when our key guys get hurt but it is reality.
I agree with this. This was never an argument with me. My point is that I think King is so important to us and that with him healthy (and Jamal and Alexander and Efford), we are a special team.

Agree we are a good team. I don’t think we beat ND with a full team vs ND with a full team.

VT would have been more interesting had both teams been fully healthy.

We were healthy vs Syracuse and reasonable healthy vs Louisville.

Maybe one more win. 8-3 now would be GREAT. 7-4 is GOOD

I had not seen this mentioned yet but who the hell was doing the announcing in the stadium Thurs night? Abysmal. "1st down Georgia Tech". Only problem was it was 3rd and 2. Got down and distance wrong 3 other times during the game. I swear he even called a touchdown one time that wasn't.

The stats guy passed out drunk and slept thru the 1st half. Someone did sober him up at halftime and he fired up the stats board. With wifi sucking it made it noticeable.

Here’s the thing, Root: you both stress how GT shouldn’t be cocky because of several close wins, but then you call a VT win over GT “easy” where they gained a whopping 233 yards despite forcing 7 punts and getting another couple turnovers (ok one was at the end) while giving up 356 yards.

If GT won a game like that you’d be reminding anyone who got excited about it that GT was lucky to get away with barely moving the ball because the opponent was missing their starting QB and ended up putting in a true freshman third string QB. But instead it’s just “they played conservative because GT wasn’t getting TDs” for VT. Whereas if it was GT you’d be sure to remind us that they couldn’t really move the ball BEFORE getting that lead either.

I can tell you don’t play golf. Golfers can see the flag but will also throw grass where they stand. There can be difference results at times in terms of direction and velocity. Believe it or not.
Look.at top of trees as well.

The kicker was so concerned with wind gusts going right he overcompensated.

I didn't think it was that windy......

No - did you watch the GT-VT game? When they scored their 2nd TD about at the 2 minute TO in the first half the game was over. King was out. Pyron was clearly compromised. We had no offense. VT was limited as Drones and Tuten were also hurt but playing and VT simply went into don't screw up mode.

Had both teams been fully healthy who knows how the game would have played out. Neither team was near fully healthy and we were not in the game at all in the 2nd half.

It was a painful game to watch as both teams were bad that day. There were reasons for both teams for sure.

That is the one game a fully healthy GT could have made a real difference. Of course the same could be said for VT.

I am very happy with GT's season. We reached, likely exceeded our potential this season. The defense looks like they have a plan now and mostly execute the plan. The offense was hot and cold but good enough to win 7 games! Good season. Hard to ask for more than the team gave this year!

I simply don't get we would have been "X" if!

Yeah, both teams were bad that day. That's why I think a healthy King gives GT a great chance to be 8-3 right now.

But you're being very generous to VT about intentionally sucking at offense. VT's second half drives:

3 plays, 1 yard. (2 incomplete passes)
6 plays, 11 yards. (4 pass attempts, 2 incomplete)
4 plays, -9 yards. (1 incomplete pass, 1 sack)
5 plays, 42 yards, TD. (3 pass attempts, 1 incomplete)
3 plays, 2 yards. (2 incomplete passes)
3 plays, 4 yards. (2 pass attempts, 1 incomplete).
3 plays, -7 yards. (2 pass attempts, both complete).
5 plays, 11 yards. (starting with ~4 min left - game basically in the bag) (no pass attempts)
3 plays, -4 yards (icing the game, three kneels).

Before the last two "just run it all the time" drives they had 27 plays and 16 of those were pass attempts. They rarely completed any long passes but they could've killed a lot more clock and possibly even extended more of those drives if they'd just kept it on the ground.

That's why it looked a lot more like "they can't get it done" than "we're just trying to burn down the clock" to me. In the first half they had 2 nice drives instead of just 1, but they also had three of those 5-plays-or-less, <15-yards total drives (excluding the end-of-half three and out), so it wasn't wildly different.

We are a solid team but no where a 10 win team. Get real. Fantasy is fine if qualified as such. This has been a very good season to date. Enjoy my it for what it has been.
Is 10 win team a red herring you’re throwing out or are people actually saying that?

As others have said, some of us just really like our team. It would have been fun to have seen what they could do if fully healthy for more than just the FSU game.

If you look at the gams and see what they were throwing they were almost all dinks in the 2nd half. Drones was hurt that game and did not play the next game. Sure they wanted to score. However, with a compromised QB and an injured RB they took the safe route. They limited a GT compromised offense very effectively. We got into the Red Zone 2 times. Our first drive we got to the 17 and kicked a FG. At he beginning of the 4th quarter we got to the VT 17 and Haynes got stuffed for a 1 yard loss on 4th and 1.

Philo showed flashes and the game experience clearly paid dividends against NCST.

The game was a dull fest. It would have been much better with both QBs and lead RBs healthy. Unfortunately you play with the players you have available.

Of those 17 (whoops, I forgot to count the sack when I said 16) pass attempts, 1 was a sack and 9 were incomplete.

When you're completing your pass attempts at a below 50% rate and you trust your defense you RUN THAAAA BAWLLLL but they didn't do that until the final four minutes. They could've ended the game faster by doing so.

You can stop assuming I didn't watch the game, it's pretty annoying for every response to say "did you watch the game" or "if you look at the game" - I remember the game quite well, it was VERY frustrating that GT couldn't take advantage even with them running a fairly silly pass-happy-but-failing strategy for the bulk of the second half.

King and Haynes played in both of those games those games. Against Syracuse King threw 39 passes and ran 6 times. Haynes ran 11 times and caught 5 passes. Who was hurt that game?

Against Louisville King threw 32 passes and ran 14 times. Haynes ran 12 times and caught 1 pass. Again who was hurt in that game?

Did you watch the games? Both those players were off. I could see it with my own eyes. King was not reacting as quickly as normal and Haynes acted like he couldn’t make quick cuts.
