Good job by the staff and players of maximizing the wins of this team.
I know alot of fans have talked about how they think there are other games we could have won, but I'm not sure I agree with that.

We have 3 games where we scored the winning points in the last 22 seconds of the game - FSU, UNC, NCST. Could have very easily lost any of those, but we won all three.
In the 4 games we lost
Syracuse - down 17 with 8:39 left in the game, never had the ball with a chance to score the winning points.
L'ville - after the blocked FG never was within 1 score.
ND - down multiple scores for the last 26 minutes of the game
VT - was down multiple scores for the last 20 minutes of the game.

None of our losses where that close to being wins, while multiple wins were close to being potential losses. Given the situations at QB and RB, not sure getting more than 7 wins at this point was ever a significant possibility. 4-7 was more likely than 9-3, so getting to 7-4 is really a good job.

VT is definitely a different game with King.

Here’s another thing when NC State broke their last TD run, if their RB had dove inside the 10 they could have kicked a game winning last sec FG. Thankfully they must have turned off our Miami game film before Singleton’s last run.
True but what 20 year old is going to be thinking TEAM first? Well, Singleton but even he might have been told to do that. Besides, the young man wanted to cavort in the end zone and do the ever popular "be quiet" thing with his fingers to his mouth in front of the home crowd.

I would not criticize anyone in that situation. You break free on a run like that and you take it all the way. It looked like the game winner. Everyone wants that in their memory bank.

You could say this about every backup QB in the country that went elsewhere. Maybe he does have an undying love for GT that can't possibly be surpassed with money and guaranteed playing time. We will see.
Funny thing about Philo, in high school he broke Trevor's career passing mark, one that I thought would stand up forever but was only rated a "three star". Granted he was at a small school but guiding his team to back to back state championships is no small feat. He is used to the limelight and the pressures that come with being a quarterback in the "me too" offenses. Thanks to the collapse of the Tech defense in the fourth quarter he was given the opportunity to show what he is made of. Color me impressed.

Probably, but he wasn't available. You can only play with what you have.
Every team deals with injuries so you can't play the 'what if' game of player availability.

Did GT's team that played that week have a legitimate shot of winning that game in the 4th quarter - the answer to that is no.

It’s purely a hypothetical. The reality is you are what you are.

Maybe King gets hurt against VPI and cannot play as much as he did against Miami and we end up losing that game. Who knows what might have happened?

That is not the point most people are making, though. You are arguing against a guy who doesn’t exist, brother.

But it’s so beautiful to look at and the ending sure does feel accurate!
Funny thing about college football is that when State scored at off the top of my head, 1 minute and 30 seconds to go to take the lead I thought to myself they scored too early. Sure enough Philo comes in, State does the prevent defense thing and drives the Jackets for the winning TD with only seconds remaining (what was it 20 seconds or 30?) No matter, again I say to myself Tech scored too early. Sure enough here comes the prevent defense and State's quarterback gets his team in position. On the last play, he throws a ball that could have been caught for a much easier field goal but it was in a tight window with good coverage and the boy dropped it. I thought the State kicker had made the kick of his life with that 58 yard attempt but just missed it by a hair. A great game for recruits, television audience, and ESPN which loves having the Jackets on Thursday night.

Some of y'all are ****ing weird. Talking about shipping off our starting QB because he'll be a senior and we don't want to lose the younger guy? Arguing against football narratives with political ideals?

Weirdos.
Yes, I should have kept my mouth shut about politics. This team has the heart of a lion, no doubt about it which reflects well on the coaches and the team leaders who I am guessing are King and Malik on offense and Effords on defense.

Also a big difference stopping when you have a lead and stopping and going down when you are losing.

Imagine missing or having the FG blocked in that situation.

We were a big favorite because some how we convinced many that King was a healthy QB. He is not. A healthy King makes our team MUCH better. He is not capable of playing QB right now which makes our offense a below average ACC offense. Philo played extremely under very difficult circumstances.

Three of our 5 Conferences wins have come with GT scoring with 22 or fewer seconds left in the game. Those are all great wins. We clearly could have lost all 3 games but we did not, we won all three. Our record 7-4 / 5-3 is very accurate for how we have played this season. Real progress is being made. We are a solid team but no where near a really good team.

We need to recruit or get from the Portal more high end players to move up College Football food chain!
Lose big -> lose small -> win small -> win big

I think we are at win small with respect to most of our ACC competition

I didn't think they had a 95% chance to win the game at any point. After they scored, there was a minute-thirty left, and with Philo and our receivers I felt like we had a decent chance to come back.
I was feeling pretty bleak. Hopeful, but bleak.
