Why do we have to keep bringing this up? Lol. It's not that they don't matter. It's just that in the hierarchy of ranking meaningful games, they come in behind your conference weekend series - that's the only point anybody has been trying to make and some people seemingly refuse to understand/accept. They can mean a lot if you're on the bubble of something - national seed, regional host, making the postseason. However, again, that comes into play AFTER where you land once your conference slate has been taken into consideration.

Monty Taylor has posted injury reports for some of the series, but it's not clear to me if they are official reports or just what he has gathered from asking around. If injury reports are required, that is a new rule, but a new rule is certainly possible.

I believe they're official. ACC baseball had new requirements put in this year just like football did. One of which is releasing weekly injury info.

It may, and probably is, unfair to the coaches and players, but the following is the fact of the matter...what will the majority of us remember about this season...our ACC winning percentage, or how we did against the very best teams on the schedule, especially the game at Truist...be honest now.

The ACC standings & postseason are what matter most to me. It's not really close.

But don't interpret that as me not caring about rest of it. I hate UGA ... but it is ONE game. Just one.

Yeah, ACC for me. And the NCAA tourney. I honestly have very little memory about past seasons mid-week performances versus Auburn or UGa. When we played UGa on weekends, those I can remember. I do remember that one game during Zack Maxwell's freshman season when he started at Auburn...mainly because I couldn't believe how stout the kid was, and partly because the very next day the season was shutdown.

ETA: To be fair, I don't really remember individual ACC series from years past much. I have a pretty good recollection of where we finished in ACC play, but individual series not so much. I think its a matter of there are just too many baseball games played for me to remember individual games or series.

How did we do in the CWS. All that I will remember.

In football, it's the game that matters above all else. Maybe because of the streak and overall record. But in baseball I consider them a speed bump on our way to bigger success. Maybe a speed bump where I'll throw it in reverse and make sure we got em good the first time, but a speed bump nonetheless.

Now, that season a couple years ago that ended in Athens? That last at bat still haunts me.

This is my take as well.

And honestly I remember where we've fallen in the ACC standings every season much better than I remember how we did in midweeks - ugag included.

It definitely meant more when it was a weekend series. I want to win the midweeks too, but I just have bigger goals for us.

Yeah, I wasn't including Patel because he lost it due to injury and then it seemed like the logical way to work him back in was in relief. I don't like it, but I'd be more ok with this if they were just "giving him his job back." But if that's the case just say it - put him in there instead of TBA. I'm counting Underwood and now Loy as losing their job with way too short of a leash imo.

That's fair. It would track with how Patel's injury went down earlier in the season. Hopefully that's not the case because losing Loy would be a big blow imo.

Agreed.
Whatever the reason is I trust that
1)CJR & CMT have a good reason for doing it.
2) CJR & CMT have the best interest of our SA and have had appropriate discussions with them concerning their roles.

I remember 2-11 in the last 13 games against the pair. If we we 6-7 I don’t think it would bother me as much. 8-5 and it wouldn’t bother me at all.

Perhaps Patel had a different plan for this year, but having a pretty full house giving you a standing ovation for slamming the door shut and getting a W must feel great. I can't imagine trading that for pitching 5-6 good innings & sitting on the bench hoping the pen hangs onto the lead. Dude's great at what he's great at & that's coming in with the game on the line when we need him most. Stay there young man.
