On a serious note. I could see Blakley moving into the Saturday role. Underwood going back to the Sunday role and giving Loy and Patel the relief duty. I love Loy but if you were to throw he after Blakley on a Saturday or after Underwood on a Sunday I believe overall we would be better suited for those middle innings where we have struggled

I don't think it's an oversight to not list pitchers, it may come down to this week's bullpens since we don't have any dominant starters.

What I really like is that Ramsey has been very aggressive in moving pitchers around. Now is the time to experiment so that we peak in the tournament(s).

Meh. I'm not there yet. While I would like to see Underwood get another shot at the weekend starter role at some point, I'm good with Tate, Loy, Blakely for now. Would like to see sharp performances out of all three against a good NCST offense this weekend.

It's been TBA several times. Even TBA for all three days for both teams one week. I'm pretty sure it's either oversight or they were told to stop including it.

Monty's Micah's X-factor this week:

One pick for us to sweep and one pick for them to sweep (though it's the only person who even picked them to win the series). Lol.

I like this thinking, as Loy looks to me to be better suited for coming out of the pen rather than starting. That said, hasn't it been hinted that we reeled in Loy by promising him a starting role? I could be off on that, but I thought that was the idea. Of course, even if true, we could note that we gave him the chance but that he had better results as a long reliever.

Note that I wouldn't consider that kind of role to be a demotion. If you have a kid who performs fine without knowing exactly when or what day he will be pitching, in my opinion the back end of a piggy back is the best use of the kid.

ETA: I do agree with Decatur that the lack of starting pitcher info in the game notes is likely just an oversight as opposed to signaling any big changes.

I think yall are biasing the last time out there too heavily. Loy hasn't been great by any means, but he also hasn't been terrible. He had one rough inning in the Northwestern game, but other than that and last weekend he's been solid. 4 unearned runs (errors in 2 separate innings) made his VT outing a lot shorter than it should have been.

I look for a bounce back this weekend from Loy. If not, then maybe we start to consider a change.

Loy is definitely a premium arm. I’m just trying to mentally piece together our bullpen usage and what would be more effective as we have a dominant starter with Tate. Loy could potentially be a dominant #2 but apart of me thinks his stuff plays more out of the pen. My rotation may be this..

McKee
Blakley
Underwood

Then depending on the usage of Patel out of the pen on Friday determines where Loy would get slotted. Followed by Ballard, Gaudette, Barfield, Shadek, McKelvey, Campbell, Wilcox, Spivey, Vicens and Porter would be my closer.

I don’t think Loy is not starting. I’m just going crazy with no midweek game this week and we need something to discuss ha

After McKee's last game, I think we should go

Patel
Underwood
Blakely

I see the wink and don't know if you are kidding, but McKee is not as good as last year and I could see him going to long reliever.

Clemson stats are limited but was Tates best game. 6.0 IP and 99 pitches at Clemson (which is missing pitch count below). Pitt was his worst game but the Pitt O is good. So on the year, McKee is averaging about 20 pitches an inning (=(419+99)/26.1). Last year it was 15 pitches per inning for a full season; the second half / tournament time of this season will see better teams overall who should run up the count. That is not a dominant starter IMHO. His ERA at 4.44 probably doesn't compare that well to other ACC Friday night starters so far this year, maybe middle of the pack like GT pitching overall?

The only other 5.0 IP game was Bowling Green.

I really don't care if McKee starts, I just want Ramsey to do what is best to win now and later in the season.

100% kidding. Tate would have to have a complete collapse to not be in the rotation.

I'll remind you that his best two games last season were his last two - the ACCT game against Cal and the Regional game against WKU. I've touched on this before, but his best games tend to be the biggest ones (I think I even said before Clemson, but know I mentioned it after).

I also wouldn't remove Loy from the rotation and wouldn't put Patel back in it.

Based on observation only, Patel looks much more comfortable when not in the starters role.
