Mike Young as ACC CoY feels like a bad joke.

Because it is. Literally almost anybody would have been a better option. Had they not ducked most of their difficult games, they could have easily finished 9-9 which would have been 10th place.

Georgia Tech and Clemson were both picked to finish in the bottom half of the league. Those would have been good options. Florida State and Virginia would have been good options.

The amount of rewards and advantages we give to teams for not playing games is crazy.

If the season had gone on a week longer I think people would have realized VT is really more like the 7th or 8th best team in the conference and he wouldn't have been in the running.
Any honestly, maybe not. Maybe they win all the games they never got to play. But you should have to actually play them to get any real credit for it.

If my opinion mattered, I'd have voted Hamilton 1, Pastner 2.

That was great.

Gotta love Moses yelling, "Jose!!!" during a live interview when they asked for him to be on.

Also gotta love Moses apparently telling his mom he didn't wanna transfer out his freshman year. (Yikes, mom)
I know. Mom made me nervous with her recommendation.

You have to believe these honors will be tremendous recruiting fodder as well. What an accomplishment by Moses and the staff.

Equally pumped about Jose. While he was a really good defender already, he didn't get the preseason pub that often is a prerequisite to most postseason awards.

Now if Moses can position himself to get drafted in round 1... look out.

There's a lot for future recruits, particularly 4* and above, to say "wow, I can see these coaches are legit when they talk about their 5* development program".

Time to be greedy and snarky:

Congrats to Matthew Hurt, who won Most Improved Player (MIP) after garnering 3 preseason POY votes.

Meanwhile, our guy Moses finished 3rd for MIP despite garnering zero preseason POY votes.

Congrats to the coaches and media on making MIP a consolation prize for something other than what it was intended for.

it’s really incredible that you can have a coach of the year whose team went almost winless against the top half of the league and was almost completely left out of the end of season awards (almost 70 players got an award) Is it just an award for having the biggest guts to duck all of your tough games?

If you have some time - go read this forum's thread on Moses. https://gtswarm.com/threads/pf-moses-wright.11981/

Even with our extremely gold colored glasses, none of us would have predicted an ACC POY level of talent or production. The scouting, development and execution involved to get here fully vindicates Pastner and Reveno here. They found the guys that beat out the blue blood 5 stars for the fancy awards, and that deserves credit.

The great thing about this season and these awards is it puts GT back on the map. We have something tangible to sell to recruits other than what we did 10, 15, 20 years ago. If we make a run in the NCAA tournament then look out!

Secondly, anyone who was holding out hope that Moses would come back can forget about it. He sounds like the decision is already made and winning post season hardware just solidifies it. So just sit back and enjoy the rest of the ride.

I tend to agree but if he could be a lottery pick after next season would he come back? I guess they the end of they day just enjoy the rest of the ride is the best way to look at it.
