Eh, I probably wouldnt do it but, based on what I saw and heard in that section, I can't say the cane didn't deserve it.

Sometimes obnoxiousness must be met with obnoxiousness...ess(?)

But ... I'll get off your lawn now so you can stop shaking your fists at us 'dang kids'.

KG, ol' buddy, the way to deal with nuisance fans from other programs is to deal with it upfront. Communicate. Lay down expectations. Be firm in your expectations for their behavior and what you will and will not allow. Demand respect and respect will be given, Here is a template I dug up on the internet from a rather well known Uga fan who frequented the GT boards back in the day. Back in 2014, his team was preparing to meet Louisville. This was his proactive suggestions on how to prevent problems from even occuring. Remember, 20 ounces of prevention is worth 20 lbs. of cure. Without further adieu, here goes:

First off, a big congratulations to Louisville on a successful season and I fully expect you guys to be a top 15 type team within a couple of seasons.

Having said that, you guys are playing Georgia. We are a NATIONAL PROGRAM and have been for many years. With that track record comes a certain level of respect both from the team AND FROM THE GEORGIA FANS. We demand respect not out of spite but rather due to who we are. SEC Titles, National Titles, 95,000 seat stadium, a top 5 overall NATIONAL Program. That is respect and people give us respect.

One of the things that I have tried to do whenever Georgia plays an opponent for the first time is to try to explain a few things so there are no problems at the game:

1) First, there will NOT be any yelling in my ear during the game. I darn well don't plan on traveling all that distance to the Belk Bowl to have some guy yell in my ear. I will ask you one time to stop and no more. Look, it is a football gameso of course you can cheer for your team. I don't mind clapping but this incessant yelling is out. If you continue then I will take a physical solution that you will not like. I will NEVER provoke but if you guys think that constant yelling in my ear is gonna be tolerated you are in for a big surprise. Same thing for the kids. Sure, they can be there but keep them out of my area and keep them quiet. If you cannot control the kids then you will be held responsible and I will take matters into my own hands. We don't put up with that crap in Athens and we darn well aren't gonna travel all that distance to Charlotte and put up with it.

2) If I have to go to the restroom I don't wait in line, I go to the front. This is an area where I have encountered some problems before so I am just making it clear now. A Georgia fan has earned the right to not wait in some bathroom line and we choose to not do it. We demand respect. If you have a problem with this you had better go to a "Louisville" restroom or to one where the Georgia fans are not in. If you do decide to make an issue out of it then be prepared to face a physical solution.

3) Ditto for concessions. We go to the front of the line. NOT OUT OF SPITE OR TOTRY TO SHOW YOU UP. It is all about showing respect, folks. Again, if you have a problem with this I advise you to keep away from me or the Georgia contingent. I am very upfront and honest when I tell you that it ain't nothing for me to up and kick a man's ***. Done it several times and I'll do it again if pushed. NEVER will I provoke, though. It is YOU that determines my actions.

I sincerely hope everyone has a great time at the game and there are no problems. If folks understand a little historyand where the Georgia program and fans are coming from then we will have no problems. It should be a fun game!

I have incorporated this approach in my neighborhood regarding the kids playing on my lawn. It's quite effective but, to be frank, I have unusually large guns for a man of my size and age.

I enjoy reading opponent message boards and watching some YouTube recaps after our games. And I'll tell you what: that is the most spoiled, ignorant, narrow-minded, self-centered fanbase I've ever witnessed.

Blaming it entirely on the refs, comments like "Georgia Tech is a really bad team" and "one of the worst teams in the ACC," how we don't even belong in the same conference...

What a joke. We had the superior game plan, and we had the superior execution. It was a good game that you lost. I hope you lose out.

By the way, they played dirty all day, and got all the calls to avoid big penalties. No respect for this program.
I think it’s hilarious they think we don’t belong in the same conference as them. We have the head to head lead on them on wins with 15 now to their 14.

I have been to a lot of Tech games in ATL, and one of my least favorite fan bases to visit ATL (other than the barking mutts) is Duh U.

Let them talk all they want, for two years in a row we have spoiled their season.

that's not a good look for a fan of any team. Doesn't matter if there is a backstory (with the possible exception that these two know each other and have a friendly relationship). As you might surmise from this post, I am in my "autumn years" or whatever polite euphemism one might use for grumpy old man.
That U fan pictured was a serious douchy turd to everyone around him for the WHOLE game (except the end). I thought they were going to fight for a while there

Those were fun times on the internet. I wasn't sure of anybody here would even get my post bc it was so long ago. There were a few other dwag posters as well that were funny (SaxonDawg, Jupe dawg come to mind immediately). I don't people took things as seriously back then as they seem to nowadays.

I have season tickets in the upper North (210) and I am here to tell you that we are getting some new fans up there, there are different people every game around us, some are visitors but a lot of them are younger Tech fans, and families and they don’t look like alum either, it’s a more diverse crowd than in the past which is really nice to see imo.
At the Tech Green at 4+1/2 hr before game i was deliverying my gift of steamed shrimp for player family tailgate.
Only people there working were the guys setting up for band gig. Saw a snappy dressed guy walking past band area. He was looking at the tailgates that had some Ga Tech people checking thier areas. I recognised thst it was Jay Batt. I asked him if he was looking for a job. He smiled and said no. I said good - you are building a great organization and this is the first time gtaa has really tried to emphasize marketing. He was gracious and went towards stsdium. Later saw him on nofth ave cross walk watching the band lead the team down North Ave.

This guy is a keeper.

He was all business.
Also, the player parents have always handled the food so nothing was ready.

Back in the day when we had some players from New Olreans area they had some great fixings. Will Bryan's dad used to grill in w21 on his trailer smoker. Tech green is mostly finger food.

BC I lack any semblance of a social life (engineer here fwiw but I'm being obviously redundant) I waded through the posts on the Miami board. Oddly enough, we still get referred too as a high school team, even with CPJ's retirement!?!?!? Also, they seem to have a far better opinion of our coaches than some of our more dour posters (who must have had a Swarm bye week this weekend.)
Get beat once, it might be luck. Get beat three times in recent memory then by golly, the other guys are doing something right. Miami is still Miami. Lots of talent, little class, and absolutely no character. When things are going great they are world beaters but adversity seems to kill them. In their defense, they came back in the second half three times this year and against California came back from being down 25 points, no mean feat that. Still don't like them.

Yeah obviously something was off in his eyes. Can't criticize without knowing what he saw. If he just realized at that moment we might fake it and needed to get a punt safe going, then he's an absolute idiot. Entirely possible, but so are other things.
I did not think about it at the time, but it could have been they had too many players on the field? Is this reasonable?

Yep. IIRC, weren't they undefeated last year when we beat them? Earlier in the season, but a fun factoid. And of course, after that it all fell apart.

Going to be interesting to see if their team keeps it together this year after we beat them, or collapses in on themselves like the other times.
