Miami Schadenfreude

According to this, Cristobal called time out because he thought Tech might run a fake punt:

"The clock ran down to the two-minute timeout. But after the break, when Georgia Tech lined up in a punt formation, Cristobal burned the first of his three second-half timeouts to get his defense prepared in case the Yellow Jackets were about to attempt a fake punt."
Not true. I saw it live. They had 13 on the field when he called it. He didn’t need to because the ref had not cleared the ball yet. The player had time to get off but the time out was already called.

I'll take your word for it since you were there. I was going by this video of it, around the 2:07:12 mark. 10 men shown on the field, and just a bit before this point was shown one man back for Miami. I guess there was something we didn't see on TV:

Actual Canes' Schadenfreude. We live rent free in this guy's head
I’m surprised this guy finished his article before he had aneurysm. Was he the dude being soundly rebuffed by the Tech fan pictured in the confrontation photo posted above? On a positive note, I think several people with the Miami program will have him in court by the end of the week…

What’s great is that he says their schedule was the easiest schedule ever. Then we win and he flips out. Maybe they were performing above their capabilities the whole time?

What never ceases to amuse me is fans who pit down the program their team just lost to. It’s like, dude, don’t you know all that crap just makes you look weaker?

"My inside sources have advised that Coach Cristobal has someone reading my articles,"

That's freaking hilarious. I doubt that is true but with that coach nothing would surprise me.

The whole state of Florida made #5 on the Bottom Ten list - every college team in the state lost Saturday:

5. The Sunshine State

Mario Cristobal's Miami Hurricanes suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Georgia Tech.

The Coveted Fifth Spot has never been more crowded. The FBS, FCS and NFL teams of Florida posted a 1-11 record over the weekend, salvaged only by the Miami Dolphins' win over the Los Angeles Rams on "Monday Night Football." UC(not S)F, US(not C)F, FA(not I)U, Stetson, Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman all lost, led in misery by the Wildcats' five-overtime loss to Southern. The Flori-duh Gate Doors celebrated the announced retaining of coach Billy Napier by losing to Texas in a squeaker 49-17. And My Hammy of Florida finally spotted an opponent a lead too large for a Cam Ward comeback and took its first loss of the season, falling to unranked Georgia Tech. If only someone else in the state could relate to that ...

YES. And this is very similar, to me, when GT fans say Miami was over-rated. Doesn’t that then mean GT’s win wasn’t as much of an accomplishment? :geek:
i might say they are overrated, but its because of the constant "miami is back" or jus the overhyping from everyone and their brother. this is mostly cuz they will never be as good as they think they are or perceived to be.

So do you think we beat the #4 team in the country? I think 9 games into the season is a better indicator of being good than preseason rankings so that’s how I differentiate between Miami being ranked highly vs FSU who we now know has been pretty terrible.

BTW folks if you really want to see a Hurtin’ Hurricane check out Michael Irvin’s reaction video. Now let me be clear that whatever he is talking about with regards to him being down about things outside the game I am not celebrating that. But it’s good to see the football side of him being so unhappy especially knowing his Cowboys also stank it up.

Miami has great talent, as always. They have a Heisman candidate and a whole passel of great receivers. They are every bit a fringe playoff team maybe top ten. They do not have a great defense and it cost them against Tech. A mixed bag as are a whole bunch of ACC teams. IIWII

I’m not really talking about this year. Just in general. And yes we beat the no4 team in the country. Just like we beat the no 10 team in the first game. You are what people perceive you at that time. Even if it’s not reality.
