He's not too old, and he would make an excellent assistant coach. He could be a non-recruiting coach and someone else could take on the responsibilities of on-the-road recruiting. I believe the limitation is the number of "coaches" that can be on the road, not which coaches could be on the road. But I could be wrong too.

He's an excellent shooting coach and we definitely need shooting improvements. A year from him could make Josh a lottery pick.

We don't need a non-recruiting coach and no one else on staff is ringing bells on the trail so it's not a matter of just sending one-a them out instead.

i trust our ocd plagued coach in making the right decision.

I don't. But that's a whole other set o' issues.

Sorry to crap on the idea, guys. I'll tap out and leave it alone.

Considering none of the other staff is able to go on the road to recruit, I'm not really sure how you could make that claim. I could see Rio being very well received by both the kids and the parents. His story is unique and inspiring. He's attractive to the elite as well as the rough diamonds. Currently he can't recruit off-campus, but if he could, and someone like Mark Price were to stay on-campus...I could see something like that happening. Not saying it would, but it could be an intriguing situation.

I'll believe this when it is announced, but if he is willing to recruit i'd be willing to interview him.
After a slow start right after the announcement last fall Julian Schwarz has really picked up the pace locally. Gotten us in tight with Marcus Watson, gotten involved with recruits from both Atlanta and Memphis.

i still think we hire someone around the Final Four when all the coaches are available.

Mark would not be unknown locally. He's lived in Atlanta for much of his life, his sons came up through the local AAU programs (especially the Celtics).

I will add the one guy i'd like to see involved with the program in the future if he is interested in coaching is Jarrett Jack after he retires. I always felt he had the potential to be a great coach. And having both a 12+ yr NBA career as well as getting his GT degree will give him credibility with both SA's and their parents.

I love Rio too. I'm basing my opinion on the other staff on the offseason results.

@RamblinRed and his level-headed manner has ended the discussion IMHO. Get Jack on the phone, stat!

I’m in the same situation, and my guess is the thread was started by someone I’ve Ignored. Seen the same thing previously.

So, if yall can't see the thread, how are you here?

... or are you here? Am I crazy? Is this Beautiful Mind? :nailbiting:

Then bring him in as a specialist in the offseason like every other team does. No need to hire him full-time. Maybe if Reveno leaves but then you're opening up the Pandora's box @Jacket Forever identified. After the first loss folks would be calling for Price as HC. Just like folks are constantly clamoring to hire him now.

We need to hire a recruiter. Plain and simple. Price ain't that no matter what his accomplishments as a player were.

you seem to have a pretty good handle on what needs to be done. how about you take the job?

I'd love for Jarrett Jack to coach here some day. He'd be a great recruiter and knows the game. The flaw in that plan is good luck getting him to not coach in the NBA for way more money.
I don't doubt NBA coaching is in his future, but a gig coaching in Div I would be good stepping stone and really give his alma mater a boost.

I've always wanted Jarrett to come back to Tech to coach. I think he would be a fantastic recruiter.

We have great shooters. Why would we hire a shooting coach?
Ummmm great shooters? You know Fletcher Magee wasn't on our team?

Jose and Okogie shoot it alright, CGB and Devoe look like they could be our top shooters and Sjolund/ Evan have potential to knock em down too. I don't see "great". Great is Klay Thompson, Steph, Korver, etc. We are average shooting wise and Price could only help. Unless you were tic then nevermind, carry on.
