This is the secret. We are goign to come out in flex bone. Singleton at WR, Blackburn at WR, Haynes, Rutherford, Singleton and Alexander rotating at AB. Boyd and Pyron Rotating at BB. Don't have to throw it down field if you can just option them to death.

Still dreaming? Nice dream. We'll keep doing what we've been doing. And playing the best QB for the play.

I guess Rutherford is out for the season given how bad his ankle injury looked.

Sorry. really wasnt a quote per se, just a reference to what someone thought Key's stance, or maybe just a lean, was on Philo redshirting this season. Pretty sure it was posted here before NCSU game, but can't say for sure. Since I haven't seen it again, I doubt we really know who is playing before game time. My question was more rhetorical in nature just to elicit some thoughts.
I have zero inside information. However, I think Key wants to win now more than he wants to prepare for some future year that may or may not occur. I have actually read that Philo has been itching to play all year long and has told people that he doesn't care about his redshirt. I don't know what will happen, nor what Philo or the coaches are thinking. However, I would find it very hard to believe that a potential redshirt is going to have any impact on decisions about who to play. Can you imagine a post-mutt press conference in which Key states that GT had an opportunity to win in 2024, but wanted to save a potential opportunity to maybe win that game in 2029? I think the coaches will play whoever they think provides the best opportunity to win the game. King, Philo, Pyron, whoever. I don't think they will play "favorites", and I don't think they will be concerned about what happens next year. I think they will do whatever they think it takes to beat that other team in the state.

Saw him hopping up and down on the sidelines. You don’t do that if you are seriously injured.

It is not Key's decision alone to make without input from Philo( and his family). If they are on the same page about him playing, then yes he will play. If Philo and his family want to keep his shirt, the decision becomes more complex. The main consideration to keep his shirt on Philo's side is to mitigate any chance of a bummed up Philo not being able to play two healthy years as a starter to enhance his draft stock, which can mean life changing dollars. It is not only just to give him an extra year to play college ball. Personally, with Pyron's situation as it is and how Philo's contributions to our victory Thursday night, I think it is highly likely that the mutual decision beyween Key and Philo will be for Philo to play but I feel we actually will not know for sure until game time.

We just need to come out in a 2 QB set / wildcat formation so the defense doesn't know which QB will receive the center's hike... They'd have to align to respect Philo getting the ball and passing... Or King getting the ball and running.

This is a good idea, IMO. I’d let King take the snap and Haynes as a motion WR, though. They wouldn’t know what we were going to do.

Good idea. And letting King with his bum shoulder, picking up any fast charging, hard hitting blitzing LB to protect Philo's pocket.

Lol. I hope that’s the case, but it didn't really come across that way when I listened to it. I honestly think he’s got a serious injury in his shoulder that requires surgery. It’s been six weeks since that guy threw a downfield pass in a game. I’d be really surprised if 7 more days all of sudden shows a massive recovery to where it’s just no longer a problem. But…if he could just throw ONE downfield pass on PA it could be a huge advantage. I would consider that “balling out.”
Yup the thought line that King will be ok to play like a real QB this week is somewhere between absurd and stupid! He simply can't throw the football right now! Anyone who watched our last 2 games and can't see that is blind or has way to dark Gold Colored Glasses
