I don't give a rats a** if Saban or any other coach was at Tech , how many players on uga, Clemson, or Alabama would have picked Tech to play at and how many players off those 3 schools could make it at Tech studying and playing football ? Do you really think any of them would be willing to work that hard ? Hell how many could even get into Tech ?

Well lets see.... Willie Clay chose Tech over Notre Dame during some of the worst times in Tech history. Calvin Johnson and Demaryius Thomas chose Tech over uga, Joe Hamilton had numerous offers. It can happen, just have to not be happy with recruiting classes below Colorado State and Western Michigan and be a good salesman.

Idk but we shouldn't be content being 4-3. Im just soooooooo glad Tstan doesnt think like a lot of you. He wants to win and thinks we can win.

Listen, I know a lot of people on here are tired of your seeming ignorance of how competitive and unsatisfied with losing CPJ is and that you don't seem to understand what it takes to put together a winning team at GT. However, I appreciate you. I know that very few people become fans of GT when they get older. We must get fans when they are barely teenagers, like yourself, and keep them if we are going to build our fanbase. So, don't lose the spirit.

Northgajacket I'm not sure we can convince these people that you can always get better.

The host asked if graduating players and just being good is enough which i thought was actually pretty disrespectful to ask in the first place and Tstan said no and that he wants to win Championships so I'm just saying I hope CPJ heard that because he seems pretty content with top 50 recruiting classes.
PJ is a lot of things but content is not one of them.

So Jacob, PJ has been the most successful coach at GT since Dodd (unless you want to call Ross more successful for 1 glorious year), what do you change that would make the next coach more successful? And don’t say “get a better coach”. We’ve proven that route doesn’t work.

Yikes that sucks that you've accepted that. Gotta be motivated and not content. Seems like you've got something in common with CPJ.

Seems like you have a bug up your tailpipe.

There is more than one way to interpret the things CPJ and TStan have said. You choose to interpret CPJ statements in a negative light. Others have a different opinion of what they have stated and the context of same.

When has CPJ said he only wants to recruit top 50? Or equivalent? When has CPJ ever said challenging for championships is not a goal?....ever??

Idk I guess I'm just frustrated with how this season has gone and having top 50 recruiting classes every year. Don't know why people get so pissed on here if you say anything anti CPJ. Love the guy and I think we can do even better with him as are coach.

Winning is related to recruiting. GT cant recruit with the big boys so expecting to win is not something I think GT fams can do. Hoping to win is somethings all fans can do.

It is what it is. GT right now is a middling program, can snag one or two big games becuase of our style but GT probably wont ever be a top 10 team with UGA, Clemson, Miami and VT on our schedule annually. That is too tough of an annual climb every year from where we stand on a talent deficit to those teams. Our starting lineup is great but we have zero depth.

Dave Braine was right about us being a 6-7 win program with an occasional surprise season. Id hate to see where we would be at without CPJ.

I have never heard CPJ use academics as a crutch. I have heard him say that there are guys that can't be recruited to GT because they won't be able to stay in school. I have seen some heralded recruits that came to GT and left within a year because they couldn't handle the academics. I believe that CPJ simply states the truth. He doesn't hide behind "crutches", he doesn't overstate things, and he doesn't imply things that he doesn't come right out and say in simple language. He has also said that other programs(Clemson) has a lot more support staff than GT. If GT had the number of football people that only review high school athletes, GT could recruit more guys nationally that do fit into GT. As I understand it, most of the high school player reviews are done by the coaches in their spare time of 80-100 hour weeks. If you really want GT to find more players who do fit into GT, then you should be donating all you can to the program. My guess is that you don't even have an AT Fund account. Join the Golden Jackets club, get involved in the program, and maybe then I will give a damn what you think. At the moment I don't.

Dave Braine was a moron who tried to get Frank Beamer fired at VT and gave Paul Hewitt that albatross of a contract, I wouldn't take his words as gospel.

Not sure because we have too often cut our own throats for stupid reasons.

How was -

Carson better than Dickey?
Fulcher better than Carson?
Curry better than Rodgers or Spurrier?
Lewis better than GO'L?
cg better than Mac?

Not to mention AD's who either seemed to not care or were happy with the status quo.

Every die hard Tech fan wants us to win another national championship. We can do it, with or without CPJ....I just happen to think CPJ gives us our best shot of reaching that goal.

It's not an easy goal. It's not even easy for major programs and the big state schools.

Our talent in the 2 deep has been improving the last 3 years. We are getting better, but so has our competition largely. The ACC has really become far more competitive than it's been in a very long time.

I like our leadership and direction. And I think TStan can help raise our game even further.

The president could help more also in many ways. Fighting harder with the board of regents to expand our degree programs would be one way.

Not many advocate basket weaving clssses for SAs. But a more direct path to a medical degree would help attract elite scholar athletes inclined to pursue that path. They can also have to take calculus :p. But if the regents can allow the mutts to open an engineering department....there is no damn good reason to prevent Tech from offering pre-med.

Will that attract big dumb nasties only interested in pursuing a pre-NFL degree? No. But it will allow us to expand our offerings to the type of scholar athletes we already target but who don't want business, engineering, or polysci degrees. The president seems more inclined to be political than expand the institute.
