I said earlier that Graham might end up our QB on athletic ability alone. He can do pretty much what he wants on a football field. I see people saying things about his running. Look at his high school film; he can run like the wind. While I think it would have been a photo finish, I think that, if Paul had stayed, Graham would have beat Tobias out to start. And both of them would have been more successful; they - and the rest of the O - knew what they were doing.

But … now James is a red-shirt soph in his first start in a new O. He will disappoint. That is usually what happens in this situation. The only thing that worries me is that Paternaude will remove him and put in Tobias if the team doesn't move. At this point, we need to settle on a starter and stick with him for an entire game, whatever the result. Musical QBs must stop. If James lays an egg, then either work with him hard next week or start Tobias against Puke.

Btw, I also see suggestions that Tobias move to WR or something. I can see the argument but, no. Repeat: NO. We need two QBs with game experience and James and Tobias are the only two on offer. James has already been sidelined once.

If true, I am 100% on board. While I think there is an argument that TO still gives us the best chance to win today, this season is already a waste. Lets go ahead and start actually building towards something. Lets see if we can actually -- ghasp -- build a cohesive identity and improve. Graham and Yates are the most similar and have the highest ceilings. Lets ride with Graham and find other spots to play TO. If it makes sense to work in Yates later in the year without burning his redshirt, that would be a good idea too.

As terrible as the season has gone so far, if we are able to get our crap together and get better we actually still have most of our goals open. Bad as it is losing to Citadel and Temple (good thing we don’t play “Castle” or “Church” universities...we’d have no shot!), neither of those was a conference game. The rest of our division doesn’t look very formidable...it’s entirely possible we become competitive and have a chance at taking the Coastal.

Somebody said it earlier, if the OL can’t block it doesn’t matter who the quarterback is. I wish James all the best, I just hope he doesn’t get killed.

By the way, somebody said a long time ago that it was easier to learn how to pass block if what you did previously was run black. I bought that hook line and sinker. Now I know it’s a bunch of BS. However long it takes to build an offensive line from scratch is how long it will be before were any good.

The short, quick passing game would seem the order of the day.

I'm fine with either QB as long as we stick with one and gameplay towards their skill set. I hope we can try and bring back some of the formations with Oliver at receiver as well. Just get your playmakers on the field. Putting TO in motion is going to freeze some linebackers.

I would argue I've seen some missed throws and also some high delivered balls even on completions and at times just out right no where near the WR this year from Graham. The OC even eluded to that but that seems to be developmentally and continued work and experience on that and making better reads are all correctable and at end of the day he has the talent to be a good QB in this type of offense if he continues to work and he seem's ready to work which you have to appreciate. He had to battle back on grades already and also he apparently was in Film room on Sunday morning reviewing the game tape and himself for improvement.

Graham and TO are both allusive but TO also breaks tackles, a lot of them. If he becomes a receiver he needs the ball a lot in short passes (screens and drags maybe) where he can have chances to break big plays. Sanders, Brown, and Carter are better suited for the long throws.
Did you guys plan this out?

JG is a RS freshman.
Then how did he play in the VT game last year? I think the roster site is wrong and so was I: he's a true sophomore. The roster does seem to indicate that the coaches were thinking about redshirting him this year. Doesn't look like that will work.

You can play in 4 games and keep your redshirt status.

You can play up to 4 games and still redshirt. That’s what JG did last year. He’s a RS freshman this year.
