Simple battery is nothing. As said was said, any physical contact that doesn't injure is battery. A finger to the chest, a cup of water thrown, spitting, pushing, anything.

I'd let the facts come out.
You list some petty things and then say "I'd let the facts come out"
It's possible that it's more egregious, true?

If it was a frat house incident, charges will be dropped really quick. ain't no need to have lawyers sniffin round these parts.

Avoid liability - the winning mantra of frats, college athletic programs, and ppl who pay @Lawyer mark mark by the quarter hour.

Not really. Simple battery by definition isn't egregious.

I think you're hung up on battery. Battery is bad. Simple battery isn't very serious. If he punched and broke someone's nose he wouldn't be charged with simple battery. If he busted some lips he probably wouldn't be charged with simple battery. He would be charged with "battery" instead of "simple battery".

I've know quite a few people charged with simple battery. Every incident was ridiculous and was later dropped by the prosecutor.

Battery is listed as the nature of the call, not the charge. The charge is simple battery. Visible injuries are usually, but not always, required for battery. Status cleared / closed by arrest just indicates how the call was closed by the department. A warrant for simple battery was sought and obtained through a magistrate judge. The case is in the hands of the courts and DA's office now.

Someone could’ve just said something stupid to him and he was standing up for himself. We’ll probably never know and there’s no reason to pass judgement on him because of it. I’m sure CPJ will get to the bottom of it and he’ll get whatever punishment is warranted, if any.

This might be why we havent seen him in last game, even though it seemed like we played a lot of different guys on D.
Sidenote: Blumpkin, love the CPJ pepe. Ultra rare.

I think he was in on one tackle in second half .

Wonder if coach will get to run with him (actually I hope it is that level).

During pregame warm ups wife of one of coach said one of players was reported late to class so the player and her husband had to meet at 5 to run. she said they both got in a good workout together.

By way the wives of these coaches do a lot to support the program - each week the one i met bakes a sweet pastry and color it with the food coloring that matches the bright color of the next opponent.

I know, I know. I was a college student MANY years ago. I'm just being a mother hen.:)
Sometimes I look back and actually feel relief that I got through that teenage and early adult phase without making a complete fool of myself and doing something really stupid. As far as that goes, doing something not really that stupid but just at the wrong time in the wrong place. i doubt the kid was sticking up the local bank, though. It will work out for him and I think Johnson will give him the appropriate punishment for whatever he did to the degree that he did it.

Probably a few of us who feel that we made it out of those years alive only by the grace of God.
