Patenaude’s willingness to switch out QBs worries the crap out of me. QBs have to get a feel for the game which requires multiple downs and multiple possessions. Even though Lucas looked timid, we only saw him for one possession which may not be an indicator of his potential. As many on here have said, I agree that Graham looked the best but he didn’t face Clemson’s best so this might not be a good indicator of his potential either. My opinion: right or wrong you gotta race with whatever you bring to the track...and let’s go to the track with ONE QB.

But the flip side of that is sticking with one QB even though he doesn't work out like you imagined or hoped.
Or leaving someone on the bench who probably deserves at least a shot, the side effect of which could cause players to lose faith in your decision.
Or going with one QB based on practice even though you yourself aren't sure which one will be best until you've seen them under game conditions.
Or leaving an inexperienced guy on the bench even though he has a bigger upside potential if he only had more reps.
Or going with one experienced guy when it might be wise to get the second-stringer some meaningful work just in case.

Lots goes into this. Sometimes the right guy is clear cut and sometimes you have to find out who's going to be best in the long run based on game day results.
Maybe he knows who he thinks or hopes will emerge, but the guy just needs some seasoning before getting thrown to the wolves. Lots to think about here. The season is still very young.

I agree with your points. My beef is with the in-game switches between three QBs. Play one (preferred) against USF, maybe two. If that doesn’t work, try another one the next week. I’ve never seen a three QB switch and I’ve only seen one two QB switch that I thought was somewhat successful, David Greene and D.J. Shockley.

His unwillingness to narrow this down to two QBs, at most, makes me think that he believes he doesn’t have anyone who can run HIS offense.

Truth.

Bama and Clemson both worked through QB rotations at the early part of last year and I don't think many people would say those coaches don't know what they're doing. They both wound up in the title game. Obviously fans will likely have more patience when you're winning regardless.

It's a tough decision with large stakes and I'm sure they want more info to inform that decision. Georgia Tech has had 14 drives this season spread across 3 QBs...all against the defending national champs. I bet you see all 3 again. At least I hope to. I want to see Graham more like everyone else but I also want to see Lucas with more of a shot. And I expect TO to start because we all saw what he could do against them last year.

It is the practice reps that become the problem....if you have 3 QBs taking snaps with the 1st string...you aren't goi g to get enough
