What team or teams do y'all think could surprise in 2018 and who do y'all think will be a disappointment? I think GT and FSU could surprise in 2018 while I think if Virginia Tech struggles on offense they could win 6-7 games and I think it's possible that Wake Forest could slip to .500 or worse if their defense doesn't play as well as it did in 2017.

New d scheme.

Alot of d starters gone and guys that will play alot have not in the past.

O big ? At wr.

Qb needs confidence

Not a deep ol again, a ton of unproven players.

Not feeling much beyond 7 wins right now on paper.

But. Lets see how spring looks and fall. Could change alot from today on.

im pinning my hopes on a break through true fresheman qb being what we lacked on o and an attacking d based on speed.

14 and o baby. gt beats tosu 41-38 in the nc game thanks to a blocked last second field goal by our aggressive disruptive d and a pick 6 that put us ahead.

stick that up your gazzooo dwags. heh

So that'd be 15 - 0 :) (12 regular season + ACCCG + Playoff Game + NC Game )

I never get the rain excuse, I'd understand if we threw it 25 times a game but that's not the case.
Most tend to focus on the skill positions in the rain, But slower fields hurt us more on each line. On a soggy field the bigger, slower guy gains advantage.

It's refreshing to me...any excuse that we can muster up as a fan base not involving the word calculus shows a spark of creativity. It used to be said that rain favors a running team until we managed to have a losing season during which it rained 2 or 3 times. Now, apparently it's bad. ;) We are the only team in the nation that requires the Farmer's Almanac when forecasting the upcoming season.

The O should be no worse than 2017, maybe a tick better if the passing improves and distribution to the ABs is better. Wins beyond 7 will depend more on improvements with the D and STs IMO.

Since we would have had 8 wins last year with just an accurate kicker and the fact that it would be hard to be worse on Defense this year than last year then we win 9 at the minimum.

I predict another 11 win season upcoming. 3 losses. 2 to Clemson and a third head scratcher to Pitt or Virginia and an Orange Bowl win.

VPI had their QB and a WR declare early for the NFL draft. More importantly they had their 340 Lb. DT (Settles) also declare for the draft. Those are some very big hits to recover from in short order. Let's see how some of these other teams respond to what happened to GT in 2010 after Dwyer, D. Thomas, and the Morgan's (Burnett and Derrick) declared and left early after the 2009 season and Orange Bowl loss to Iowa.

That created not only a huge a talent hole, but also a Leadership void that took several years to overcome. I expect TECH to defeat VPI once again!

Friends her in fsu country (nw fla) are fired up w new coach and are saying the recruiting is catching fire. They plan on beating clemson w the qb back from injury and super stud true freshmen recruits.

Need lot of beer to be optimistic enough tob think how crazy it wou ld be to see them in the accc.
I can do that!!!

I can't see FSU doing any better than 9-3 and a possible trip to the Camping World Bowl.

A trip to Blacksburg on a Thursday night will be tough no matter who they’ve lost but by time that game comes around we should be well tested especially on the road. Games at USF Pitt and Louisville and throw in the home game vs Clemson should more than have GT ready. I hope we get through September no worse than 4-1. Can’t afford any let downs to USF or Pitt. This team has to prove they can tighten up and win on the road early this year.

Miami may be a bit overrated, and certainly got exposed in the ACC championship game. But doggone, there are teams in there of late that have given us fits" Miami, VT, Duke and UNC. (Interesting to watch the Fedora Watch at UNC. He might be on his or-else year.) I think we have to win Duke and UNC and at least split Miami-VT.) Clemson gets almost its entire defense back. It lost two WRs to the NFL, and observers there call it "addition by subtraction". The question there is QB, where Bryant's limitations hurt their offense all year before it was locked up by Alabama. But, even with him they will be hurt to beat in the Atlantic, and if their Georgia hotshot comes through they are NC threats yet again. Interesting to see how many freshman QBs are starting and taking their teams to outstanding seasons. Kind of turns the experience theory on its head. Regardless, we have a shot at our division ... if we show up for every game. Sometimes, alas, we do not.
