Considering your so quick to believe "unintentional" likes of posts, perhaps you should use your time staying above the fray to adjust the site's layout and functionality.
Dude, happy to discuss via PM if there's still an issue. But to be honest, I have no clue what this sentence even means.
  • Believing or not believing "likes" does not open up capacity
  • Even if I had capacity, I know very little about how to maintain the site's layout and functionality. Someone else does 99% of that.
  • And even if I could, I like the layout and functionality.
  • So if you have a suggestion, can you send a PM or start a thread in the Lounge?
I apologize if I'm taking you too literally and you just want to vent, but I think we need to take this offline either way.

I promise you have no idea what my opinion is of Zach's tweets, despite the fragment of my opinion you see here. That'll be a fun convo whenever we have a beer together. I respect Zach's right to an opinion, which is one reason why I shared it.

In thinking about whether or not to post the tweet at all, I promise the deciding factor was that it was going to make its way here regardless based on how much traction it got on Twitter with responses, likes, back and forth, etc. As a mod I understand the consequences, which I would have had to deal with regardless of who posted it.

Re: the use of petty, I see your point. Also thought about the consequences, some of which you point out. At the end of the day, the poster was belaboring a point that was already clarified in black and white i.e., the post was not supposed to be 'liked'. While I don't know ibeeballin's motives, and so I give him the benefit of the doubt, I find his explanation believable since from experience I make that mistake time to time as well.

One could argue I'm being petty now too keeping this senseless banter going, so I'll bow out now and would be happy to discuss via PM.

Fair enough. For the record I think you and the other mods do a great job. No one is perfect and I appreciate your labors here. They are pretty thankless and sure does nothing to fill the bank account. So I thank you.

Actually I don't know ibeeballin. Wish I did, and wish I knew you, but I don't.

I deleted the anti-Zach post that sadly was brought to light in this thread rather than the Report function.

Since I know you are familiar with the Report function, what is keeping you from using it? As I've stated directly to you and publicly many times in the past, many of which I'm sure you've seen, it should be known by now that mods don't catch every post. We frankly don't have the time.

It really is unfortunate you've chosen to air this out publicly with false accusations, but I'll respond publicly again so others understand the option as well.

My post did not require a response. What was my false allegation?

Fwiw, you know ibee, and me, and have an online relationship with us. How we respond in this forum affects our relationship in this forum.

Why did you challenge my understanding of the report feature publicly? You already know why I don't use the report feature much. I won't continue this publicly.

One major point of disagreement. Geoff Collins is an X and Os guy. He is an elite defensive coordinator. If he had different ambitions he could be a Venables/Bud Foster.

I was “just watching” and didn’t spend much of last night looking for scheme or Xs and Os. I didn’t stop or rewind or anything like that. Still, it’s the first time in a long time that I watched a game and thought something was happening on defense.

I didn’t get that feel on offense. Just a gut feel on game one.

That’s just a longer way of saying “I think Collins is an X and O coach on Defense, and Thacker is too”.

Came to post this. Ita completely ignorant to say CGC is not an X & Os guy. It might it worse to say he’s not here to develop. His DB track record speaks for itself and what he did Rock Ya- Sin is amazing.

Your personal feeling is your prerogative bc we don’t need groupthink, but let’s stay from the nonsense like this

@Ibeeballin Can you get a copy of the video and break down some of the plays this game?

(I know it’s a ton of work. I’m happy to see you cherry pick a couple of series)

I'd like your opinion about why this is nonsense? I feel like the numbers are pretty solidly in my camp.

Here are UF's last 6 seasons of DFEI. Collins seasons are bolded:

2013: 6
2014: 5
2015: 17
2016: 8

2017: 50
2018: 22

Here are MSU's seasons including the seasons before and after Collins, again, his are bolded
2018: 1
2017: 10
2016:91
2015: 31
2014: 16
2013: 18
2012: 44
2011: 17

2010: 16
2009: 42

Here are Temple's last 4 seasons:
2018: 42
2017: 36

2016: 35
2015: 27

I'm not trying to crap on Collins, I'm genuinely not. I'm just not seeing any statistical evidence that his defenses were particularly more or less effective than what you would expect each school to produce.

Not that difficult:
1. Someone posts that the best thing to happen to the 2014 team was Laskey getting injured;
2. @Ibeeballin likes the post and posts a separate post calling Laskey lame, etc.;
3. @Ibeeballin is called out for liking a post celebrating Laskey's injury;
4. @Ibeeballin drafts a post stating it was an unintentional like and, in the same post, writes that Laskey sounds like a "woman scorned;"
5. @CuseJacket jumps in to defend @Ibeeballin, stating the like was unintentional and later posts that he usually stays above the fray;
6. I post that if @CuseJacket readily believes that @Ibeeballin's like was unintentional, he should use more of his time to adjust the sites layout to avoid "unintentional" likes.

Maybe. We'll find out in the next 3 or 4 years :)

To wit, here are the FEI ratings for the defenses he has coached (either as DC or HC)
2018, Temple: 42
2017, Temple: 36
2016, Florida: 8
2015, Florida: 17
2014, MSU: 16
2013, MSU: 18
2012, MSU: 44
2011, MSU: 17
2010: MSU: 63

I see: Always solid, generally good, occasionally elite, with the caveat that his best defenses have had SEC talent.

As I said, we can have this discussion in 2021, while you guys gripe about President Biden

Paul Johnson's offense averaged a OFEI of 33 during that time period. Geoff Collins defense came in at 29 during the same stretch. I guess neither is an X and Os guy...

7. TheTechGuy attacks a Tech football player who went through a coaching transition without crapping on the new coach.

Well, Laskey is a lame for that tweet and even lamer for for deleting it. Stand by your feelings

Unintentional likes happen a lot with phones. Only way around that is to get rid of that feature. No reason to go on and on about this.

PERFECTLY valid. Great post!

Here are Johnsons's OFEI's
2018: 19
2017: 30
2016: 31
2015: 87
2014: 3
2013: 38
2012: 12
2011: 13
2010: 67

I'm going to make the argument that recruting to Georgia Tech is a different animal than recruiting to Florida or Mississippi State, BUT you'd be completely within your rights to say "excuses are like a-holes".

I'd personally think you were wrong, but I'd admit it's not unreasonable.

MY POINT REMAINS, though, that this is a discussion to be had in 4 years, not 4 weeks, and not in the 4 hours following the very first game against the defending national champions.

If Collins can recruit, retain, and develop kids at a top 25 level on defense at Georgia Tech, he will be successful. If he can't, he probably won't. That's for time to tell.

Still cant believe Laskey would post that. For such a smart guy what a dumb thing to tweet
Youthful indiscretion.

I think it's goes to show his loyalty to Paul for the unique opportunity that Paul provided him and for the memories he will always have during his time on the Flats.

I see the same people mad about Laskey were not mad about Joe Hanilton’s comments about CPJ after he retired and visa versa.

This coach schism in our forum is causing everything to turn into most political discussions: both sides are being completely unreasonable.

I thought JoeHam was out of line, at times, over the years, too. Agree we all gotta get past this.

Lost some respect for Zach with those hot takes. Lotta people could have piled on our clown show performances vs middling teams like Pitt, Duke, USF last year. This loss vs Clemson wasnt worse than last year's, other than some garbage time points. Not helpful at all. CGC was given mission impossible and one of our own legends is ready with the pitchforks when he comes up short? Lame, weak sauce.

"Legends"?

Wow
