TECH’S RECORD OFFENSE ROLLS ON…

•Georgia Tech has scored 134 points in two consecutive games to set a modern-day school record (since 1950) for points in consecutive games. The previous modern-day record was 115 points in back-to-back wins over Kansas and Middle Tennessee in 2011 (66 vs. Kansas and 49 vs. MTSU). It’s also the most in consecutive games by Tech since the leather-helmet days (139 In 1921) -- 70-0 win over Davidson and 69-0 win over Furman.

•The Jackets’ 134 points in the first two games also sets an ACC record for most points scored through the first two games. The previous mark was held by Florida State in 2012 (124).

•Over the last 16 quarters played at Bobby Dodd Stadium, dating back to last season, Tech is out-scoring the opposition 197-32.

GEORGIA TECH SCORING…

•This season (2-0): 134 points (67.0 ppg) – ranked second in the FBS behind Ole Miss (74.5 ppg)

•Last five games (4-1): 218 points (54.4 ppg) – includes wins at Georgia and over Mississippi State in the Orange Bowl

•Last 10 games (8-2): 468 points (46.8 ppg)

BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW…

•Georgia Tech has thrown for a touchdown pass in 10 consecutive games, dating back to last season.

•Justin Thomas has tossed a TD pass in six consecutive contests.

QUICK STRIKE ABILITY…

•Of Georgia Tech’s 85 offensive touchdowns since the start of 2014, 29 have been scored in drives of two minutes or faster (34%), while 31 have come on drives of five plays or less (36%).

•This season, nine of Tech’s 19 offensive TDs have come in two minutes or quicker.

•Georgia Tech, which scored the first time it touched the ball an FBS-leading 71.4 percent of the time last season, did so again Saturday for the second time in as many games this season.

•Dating back to last season, Tech has scored a touchdown on its first possession in seven of the last nine games.

CLOSING IN ON 30,000 RUSHING YARDS UNDER JOHNSON…

•Tech needs just 43 more rushing yards to reach the 30,000-yard mark in this, the eighth season under Paul Johnson.

•No team in college football has rushed for more yards since Johnson’s tenure at Tech began in 2008.

•Tech leads the nation in rushing this season (457.5 ypg), and did so last season (342.1).

•Tech has surpassed 200 yards rushing in 16 consecutive game, and 250 yards rushing in 15 straight -- both streaks lead the FBS.

CASHING IN…

•Since the start of last season, the Yellow Jackets are +15 in turnover margin (+3 this season).

•Tech’s offense has been opportunistic in creating points off turnovers, including a 34-0 advantage in points-off-turnover scoring this season.

•Including last year, the Jackets own a 120-point advantage in points-off-turnover scoring (171-51).

Oddly, the QUICK Strike Stat could be a bit worrisome for us vs ND--with our new guys, if we are forced to drive long and hard with few big plays ,it may be tough to sustain the concentration and effort for several minutes

We need to change our offense. There is no way we will be able to recruit the right kids to TECH if we run this stuff.

I think the more we play the better we will get. I'm more worried about the first time in a big loud stadium for many of the guys who didn't play last year in the cesspool. If we have a long drive, it'll be because we are doing what we do best; beat the crap out of the opposing D and sap their will.

I'm most worried about turnovers that prevent a long drive from happening.

Glad this goes back to last season. First though that maybe I'd missed the first 8 games of the season. ;)

And Peyton Manning hasn't.
