So, somebody explain something to me. On the play where Liami was finally and mercifully called for targeting.

The initial foul was not a face mask but 'illegal hands to the face' - a 5yd penalty.

Did I hear that wrong? Seemed a clear and obvious face mask - 15yd penalty. At worst, it was 'hands to the face' and a face mask.

What gives? Or did I hear it wrong?

For those that don’t have the ability to see everything he said:

Thinking back to the job that @GeorgiaTechFB Offensive Coordinator Buster Faulkner did yesterday in constructing one of the best 2-QB game plans that I have ever seen. AND…he did it with the QB that would be LIMITED as a thrower being the starter (Haynes King), and the QB that would be asked to throw it in obvious passing situations as the “#2” guy ( FRESHMAN Aaron Philo). It was executed to absolute perfection. Masterclass. Just glad I was there to witness it and call it live

“Glad I was there to witness it and call it live and talk about Miami the whole time instead of it”

From the TV feed, after the the Miami player was ejected for targeting on Cooley, there was a lot of celebrating, laughing and congratulations for the ejected player on the Miami sidelines. A real bad look.

And I'm pretty sure the player never even left the bench area. Aren't you supposed to go to the lockerroom when ejected?

I heard that too and the best explanation I have is that the official announced it wrong. Probably didn’t pay much attention since it was going to be declined to take the targeting.

Would have been interesting if they determined no target… would they have corrected the call? Glad we didn’t need to go there.

You heard it correctly. It was a clear and obvious personal foul facemask but was announced as "hands to the face". Since it was declined in favor of the targeting, it doesn't matter. Maybe the ref misspoke.

Exactly. Dude said nothing like this during the broadcast. It was all Cam all the time.

Hey, he did say "thinking back...". I'd rather that Riddick give us that kind of insight during the game, but they didn't have pre-built graphics for that narrative. They did for miracle Miami comebacks.

I'm just glad our team is interesting enough for the color commentator to look back at the game and be impressed, and say it publicly and broadly.

They made the wrong call. They also called it on the wrong player. Just a mistake. It had no impact as they could only enforce one of the two penalties.

See, that's the problem. Had they called no targeting, we're stuck with that terrible call. Get it right, even if it ends up not mattering.

As you all know, I'm a stickler for following the rules to the letter. :sneaky:

Someone needs to instruct Singleton to just take the touchback on kickoffs, but otherwise, just an awesome team win.
Offense and Defense were not at full strength but they left it all on the field. Outcoached Miami on both sides of the ball. And the capper was formerly #2 uga getting throttled in Oxford. Helluva day!
Exactly. Every time he brings it out of the EZ, it scares hell out of me. High risk, little chance of high reward. He is such a big part of our offense, especially in the condition it is now, if he gets injured, we are screwed.
