As I understand it, that would cost us $7 million more than if we wait until the end of the season. If so, that's not going to happen.
TStan better start Plan B now. Get his Christmas list ready and how much will he have to spend.

at the very least we should all be hoping collins finishes the season so we can get a better coach with the extra money
May not need to change if we have a decent season but a good manager should not get caught without being prepared. TStan may be looking at his own Plan B.

for a team that’s not used to playing against it the option is so dangerous. navy and army have shown that taking some really big games down to the wire with schools like notre dame, michigan, and oklahoma in recent years

According to Nick Saban it was actually because the team didn't practice well because they thought it was beneath them, he credited that game for giving them the focus to win out and beat LSU in the NC.

that’s kinda the point though. teams that aren’t used to seeing it don’t prepare as well for whatever reason. meanwhile in our division you would hear about teams spending a week of practice in the off-season just on us, as well as the ACC giving literally every team a bye to prepare for us.

when you are up against it out of nowhere it’s a big challenge

If you subscribe to the notion that winners are made in the off-season, the off-season is already underway, so we shall see. Spring practice starts on 2/22. That means the coaches better be creating some magic now, so they can begin imparting and installing that magic to and with the players in a few days. Collins’ only chance to survive into 2023 is to hit the ground running on Day 1 this season. If he starts slow because he and his staff wasted precious time trying to figure out what they want to do, he will be the richest salesman on the used car lot before Christmas.

Rambling Wreck is Ga Tech.
And
A helluva shape it was in when Collins took over.
In his time we have been last on the field and we still remain last in $ .

So sad we didn't force cpj to take $$ for great DC and position coaches. Then with Colins we again underestimated the $ for those assist coaches DC oc etc .
The old wreck she ain't what she used to be.Next guy is going to want money down!

Would Tstan have insisted on better coaches if Collins wanted to keep his "known" entities even IF there was more $ ?

They failed to pause.
They went full bore w getting a staff.
We didn't need anyone but strength coach till mid Feb
Tstan was not ready and had other balls ( debt, legacy salaries, mad donors, etc) In air.
Collins would ask for the moon in salaries, but imo would have wasted a bunch.
We had a great coach who had low paid staff and limited recruiting. At the end the assistants got a bump in pay but it was too little too late. Mbob and the Teflon prez missed the boat.
