Like I said, bad and missed calls happen every game. I’m quite positive you could go back and find some embarrassingly bad or missed calls that Tech benefitted from throughout the season. It has little to nothing to do with the fact that Tech could have and should have still won in regulation, and in OT.
Tech won the game three times. Calls were made or not made to negate the victory in each case. All three were reviewable. One was reviewed and incorrectly left as called on the field. Two were looked at (not sure what the hell that means). Virtually the entire sports world questions why these calls were not reversed - including a former NFL head of officials.
Tech then did not win the game on any of its other opportunities that you call out…so you say they just didn’t get it done.
Give me a break…
The “makeup” PI call didn’t win the game. It just extended it. I seriously have my doubts that if King doesn’t fumble they don’t call a hold on the next play, or if Eric scores on that read option they don’t call some BS backside holding call to bring it back.
These are refs at the highest level of college football. They don’t “miss” calls that frequently, and when they miss reviewable calls they are typically corrected (because you know…that’s why replay exists). None of this was subjective. The fumble was a fumble, the ball was tipped, and King was targeted.
I firmly believe that They were not going to let us win that game once it got to that point.
The only real chance we had to win was to have made the field goal and scored another TD earlier to make a comeback pretty much impossible. So yeah, in that regard I guess we could have won the game by taking advantage of more opportunities. But that’s not how this should work. Winning by 20+ should not be the requirement to win a game without having officials screw you out of wins.
I honestly wish I still had the naivety you’re showing to believe in the purity of college football. But unfortunately I think those days vanished for me last Friday night. The game I have loved all my life has morphed into a twisted and greedy abomination that forces situations that generate ratings and money. Once the situation is staged they will sometimes let it play out - but the moment things start to go sideways they tamper to regenerate situations according to their goals.
If you can’t see it then you never will.
