I am saying this about UGA fans in general. In the past 5-10 years there is no hate on their side. They are eager to compliment us all the time, usually after losses to make sure our feelings aren't hurt apparently. It wasn't always like this and the fact that it is now is embarrassing. Do you think Michigan fans are going to call their Ohio State friends today and compliment them on a well fought game and wish them luck in the playoffs? No. Nor do Ohio St fans want them to do that. I don't need kudos from a supposed rival that we just blew a game against. It's not classy. Its patronizing.
I get what you’re saying, I really do. I quite frankly don’t want to hear anything from any UGA fan for the next couple of days, positive or negative. The facts are the facts though. UGA has dominated the series for the better part of a century. We haven’t beat them in our home stadium in a quarter century, we haven’t even won consecutive games in a quarter century. There really hasn’t been a reason for UGA fans to care about the rivalry other than tradition, and anybody who is currently enrolled at either school has only seen Tech beat UGA 3 times in their lifetimes, none in the last 7 years, and most of them aren’t even old enough to remember 2008.

For many of the last several years, they haven’t even respected us a game to care about all. It’s been beat down after beat down, no different than them playing Vandy or UMass. They called last year’s close game a fluke, and once again had no respect for Tech this year. Last night’s game is another step to changing the narrative. The last 2 games have been decided by a total of 10 points. The previous 5 by 168, an average margin of victory of 33.6 points. Going back to 2017 (the first year of their streak) Tech has won 4 games by 33 points or more, 3 of them were FCS and the other was Louisville in 2018. Tech has literally been more like an FCS tune-up game for them than an actual rivalry.

I don’t know which gagger said it, but they have a pretty old quote that goes something like this, “If you don’t think Tech is a rival, see how you feel after losing to them.” We didn’t even win the game, but I guarantee the dumbasses that though 2023’s game was a fluke are probably going to start paying Tech a little more respect going forward. It sucks, I know. I’m still pissed, disgusted, exhausted, and flat out defeated after last night. But head up, we’re coming. We know, they know it, and now everybody in the country knows it. Go Jackets, and to mother ****ing HELL with georgia.

Great post, hell my few UGA friends and family even say that they don't feel that UGA won that game.
Last year was no fluke, we essentially gave Alabama the blueprint to beat them

We have all the pieces heading in the right direction to make this a true rivalry again

Under CPJ I never really felt the same, sure he beat them twice, but we got ridiculed still for his offense .

Ohio St and Michigan are comparable programs, so no, I would not expect that kind of call between fanbases.

However, Tech-UGA has been such a huge mismatch for so long that it's understandable why Georgia fans would offer a consoling word or two after giving us the annual beat-down. We've been pathetic.

As things currently stand, the game means vastly different things to the respective fanbases. For Tech fans, it is the conference championship and super bowl all rolled into one. For them, it's just another game on their way to a (potential) natty.

Once this rivalry begins to matter TO THEM again, you won't get any more patronizing and embarrassing comments.

... I just hate it out coaching staff calls the fumble when you get the first down play...

(Sarcasm off) Just bad luck when #17 speared the football and a flag wasn't thrown for targeting.
But see there is another part to this. Running a QB 20+ times is risky. He’s going to get banged up and tired and is at a higher risk of making a mistake. He did get speared, but I’m not so sure of that kids facemask is up the hit still doesn’t jar the ball loose. King was pretty beat up by that point. That said, it should have been a penalty upon review and we should have essentially won the game. I don’t understand why we didn’t ask the refs to look. Maybe we did.

I am gutted and sick about the outcome of this game but will recover and so will our team- We are winning the ACC and beating these dwag bastards in the dome next season!
I believe that winning the game in MBS next year is the team's primary goal, and that by preparing to do that we are going to run roughshod through the ACC and other OOC

Pretty sure when CBK was officially announced as HC in his introductory press conference he said something like, “We’re going to work everyday to beat the other school in our state.” A lot of people (especially dwag media) took that as little brother trying to get a rise. But what they ignored is that Key went on to elaborate and say that they were one of, if not the premier team in the country, and if we can beat them we can beat anybody. We’ve come damn close the last 2 years, and along the way we’ve seen leaps and bounds of improvement from where Key started in October of 2022.

A (theoretically) more favorable schedule next year sets us up for a good chance at competing for the ACC title, and another good shot at UGA. If it wasn’t obvious to everyone in the state before, Brent Key is for real. He loves Georgia Tech, and he hates Georgia. He wears his emotions on his sleeve, and while he definitely needs to get better at some of the in-game details required of a HC, he’s an incredible leader and motivator. He’s capable of hiring a very good staff, and high school recruiting efforts have never been better. He’s putting anyone who stands in his way on notice.

With the portal and NIL and everything else that comes along with modern college football, who knows what anybody’s roster will look like next year. But as long as we have CBK at the helm, I’m not going to count the Jackets out of competition for any title. Being the best team in this state gives you pretty damn good odds to be one of the best teams in the country.

What a gut punch of a game. I still remember 1997 and that was a huge deal since we hadn't won since 1990 and we really thought the game was in the bag until that bs PI call going for Hines Ward. But last night will probably go down with worse taste even when looking back years later. Yes, questionable calls from both the coaches and refs but they've been discussed ad nauseam by others.

One thing that really eats me up though is thinking about the next time we'll get an opportunity like this where the stars align. Under-performing uga team this season (compared to the usual), uga having a short week, Kirby not prepping the team for King as well as he could've have and King playing being the element of surprise, and so on.

I was at Sanford in 1998 for the sweet revenge facing Brad Chambers from the student stands when he kicked the game winning field goal... so here's to hoping that we get to avenge this loss next year and many more wins to follow!

Listen, history is over. UGA has been buying players and has been protected by the NCAA for decades (at least since Herschel). So this rivalry has not been a fair fight between peers. Now that everyone can now buy players you have seen the gap shrink because the big boys have lost depth and recruits and the middle class have added a few players and upped their recruiting game.

We are entering a totally new paradigm in this sport where Bama, UGA, Ohio State types are now 2-4 loss regular season teams and the likes of Vandy, GT, South Carolina, can win. Everyone thought with NIL that the rich would get richer but it hasn’t materialized that way. GT has more 4 stars than ever and will soon be signing our first ever 5 star. Without NIL he would be taking a bag from Clemson, Bama, or UGA. Instead, he can choose money and an education. Saban retired because he knew his dark money advantage was over. UGA has clearly stepped back. Watch the NFL draft and you’ll see NIL is spreading the talent around whereas recently it was all SEC first round.

Georgia will still get as many or mor guys drafted high in this year’s NFL Draft as any college. Future drafts will become worth paying attention to.

In general you are spot on.

Just watched Kirby's intro for after the game presser. I give him some respect for saying that a good GT program is good for this state. I fully agree with this statement. Having GT be a good program once again is very beneficial from high school programs to bringing out of state students in

I did however lose respect for him for his constant whining on the sidelines and constant on field presence

I can guarantee to you that throughout all GT football facilities, 44-42 will be posted as a reminder for the next 365. Motivation for recruiting, film session, therapy, chow hall, weight room, indoor and outdoor fields and anywhere else that players and coaches will see it. I feel bad for the 15 teams we'll face next year.

I have a similar feeling to the past when Tech turned the corner with Curry, Ross, and O’Leary and the momentum was building- close losses to uga turned into wins eventually. Hopefully Key will be successful and have a long coaching career at Tech. From seeing his reaction after the game I am confident the next 364 days will be even more focused and determined.

In theory, you are trading yardage and a possible future score for minutes off the clock. As we had a two TD lead all we had to do was take the next possession and get a FG to ice it. The fumble killed us.
This is one theory. The other side of this is ga was going to need two scores to win with only 5 minutes left. If you got them to turnover on downs on either of those two possessions we win the game. Go for the knockout and stop them scoring. You give yourself three chances to win the game:
Stop drive 1
Score on your own drive
Stop drive 2
You do any of these we win. We gave away chance 1.

I say all this believing the team was prepared last night and played their heart out. The coaches had a heck of a game plan. I’m excited in the direction of the program.

I hated the 3 man rush as it was happening. As others have mentioned our DBs were completely depleted, why put more of them out there? Double down on your DLs who were all two deep still and go after Beck. Force a mistake, if they did we would have won.
